The "Vector Cut" article

Just read the article on "Vector Cut" laser details.  Had never heard of this company, before.  Went to their website (thanks for the Link), and bought over a hundred bucks worth of details.   The Hand Tools are amazing.

I gave the Vector Cut guys a plug for the magazine.

Thanks for the info.

PC&L Progress 2/18/12

Here is latest update on the PC&L, work being done on the rural side of the layout. Added Upper and Lower Moose Creek, added truss Bridge and created the cliff with now includes rocks, dirt and grass. Next steps are adding some contrasting grass colors on the cliffs and attempt to make some pine trees.

Buck & Loretta's place revisited

Last night our Operations group was at my house and did our very first ops session (more on that later).  One of the members, Bob W is an excellent photographer and stayed after the rest of the guys left to take some pictures.  Among the pictures he took were a number of shots of Buck & Loretta's place taken in the dark - and when I say dark - we turned all of the lights off in the room!  Here are the shots:

Need part number for HO Scale, Walthers Double Track Truss Bridge Kit #933-3012

I am missing the instructions for this kit so I have no clue what the part number is.  But in figuring out how this kit goes together, it is clearly missing the top beam that goes across the top at the one end of the bridge.  I was hoping someone could look up to tell me what the part number is so I can find a replacement for it.

Thanks!

The price range for LEDs for overall layout lighting

There have been several posts here and on other forums about the use of LED strips for overall layout lighting.  In general those who try it seem to be having reasonable results, though some have felt it necessary to augment it with more conventional devices in some way, e.g. for spot effects.  With the higher luminosity varieties (5050s), low power consumption, a low amount of waste heat and a low and easily concealed profile, LEDs offer a lot of advantages.

Effect of filter caps on DC voltage

I have a DC bus on my layout that tests out at 13.3 volts.  I added a 2200uf 25 volt filter capacitor across the + and - terminals, and this seems to be causing the DV voltage to jump to 19 volts.

Can someone tell me what might cause this?  Am I better off removing the cap?  I'm going to be running a bunch of led's off this bus, and they are very sensetive to voltage.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Trade name for Pink/BlueI foam

Does anyone know the manufacturers trade name for pink or blue foam please?

I live in the UAE and after having toured all the building suppliers in the industrial area of the City, and found none (but more polystyrene than you can throw a stick at), I now have a local building engineer who I can call.

Adding a link to MRH on my facebook wall

I remember this has been discussed before, but I am still somewhat computer challenged and can't find it.  I don't go to facebook much and just added MRH as a friend.

I was thinking I could add a link and a MRH banner to my facebook page, but don't know how to do it.  I remember once on one of the forum posts someone showed how to copy one of the MRH banners and where they are found, but I can't find them now.
