Extra lighting functions decoder in a locomotive

Hi folks! I've been working through some of my HO scale motive power and adding DCC/Sound as I go, some are 90s-era Rivarossi, some BLI (brass-hybrid, bluebox, Paragon2 & 3), and some pure brass pieces. Right now I'm working on a BLI 4-12-2 that now has a NixTrainz Decoder Buddy Mini and is awaiting a Loksound 21pin decoder (assuming they ever come back in stock), and a square Scale Sound System Full Force speaker under the coal bunker and a Boiler Barker in the smokebox, in place of the smoke unit.

It is officially done!  More than a year of exclusive and constant work on trying to 3D print a Shay has wrapped up today, the model is assembled and all (well most) parts are glued in place.  Along the way I have learned a lot, which was the actual intent of this project from the beginning.  When I started printing parts they were to only be used for testing fit and function of parts I intended to have cast in brass.  The 3D printed parts looked so good that a few friends convinced me to see if I could print the entire model.  What you see here is the result of a l

Effective Repair Of Cracked P2K Gears

Hello,

The usual case with this elder P2K locos, the axle gears are cracked causing some failures like out of mesh gears (clicking noise), out of gauge wheelsets because a lose seat of teh half axles and at least lost of tractive force.

Remove the wheelsets:

- put the loco upside down in a cradle; removal of the shell is not necesssary

- pry the gear covers with the aid of a screwdriver off

Ah-hah Moment: Needle applicator unclogging tool
