BullFrog Snot and Graphite Treated Rails

I recall several folks that commented on how BulFrog Snot tended to pick-up debris from their layout. It got me to thinking of what sort of detrimental action this product would have on our graphite treated rails??

Beautiful Diesel Engine

...and this is coming from a steam fan

I really like the nose design of this diesel. It reminds he a lot of the DL109,..another diesel design I like very much.

Engaging a Prototype Steam Locomotive Booster Engine

Hi,

Can someone explain the actual use of a steam loco, equipped with a booster engine (typically in the trailing truck or in the lead tender truck)? Were there separate controls for the booster? When was the booster engaged? Did the associated driven wheels often slip or drag relative to the drivers? Was the booster cut out when not needed? When/if cut out were the booster wheels free rolling?

If you have a reference dealing with booster operation or you know the answers, both would be appreciated.

Fictional NYSW-esque railroad in Pennsylvania

I've been thinking about the NYS&W lately and I think that "format" of railroad is cool, and wondered how it would look transplanted to Pennsylvania. Basically, the NYS&W was a moderately-successful bridge line that eventually shrank back before acquiring new trackage in an area it did not originally operate it. My idea starts with the New York, Philadelphia, and Norfolk Railroad, which had a line roughly running up the Delmarva peninsula.

Parsley for trees

I'm trying to model South African Eucalyptus trees on my layout and can't find suitable material. A large sprig of parsley looks about right and a bit of paint can deal with colour. But I've not been able to find a way to dry a sprig of parsley without its losing its shape. Has anybody else tried this and what was the result?

Introducting: Little Creek Mine

I've been sitting on this project now for a couple of months trying to figure out what to do with it.  The project actually started with building the bench work seen above out of scrap pieces of wood laying around in storage.  I'll get into the details of it later, but for the moment the bench work is a self-contained box designed to be a portable exhibition layout.

Sony NP-F batteries for O scale

I've spent the past year learning how to write better, working, and improving other areas of life (including finishing up my education).  So all my hobbies had to take a back seat for a while.  Anyways, I recently decided to build a full-on movie camera out of my Sony a6100 for upcoming projects.

One problem with Sony cameras is that their normal battery, the NP-FW50 battery does not last very long when recording video.
