RS-1 Horns
Does anyone know which horns were used on RS-1s? Specifically C&NW and SOO RS-1s.
Book Recommendations
I would like to get a book for my brother for Christmas. In the past he is prone to:

Need help with Bachmann HO 2-6-0 Alco Mogul
Hi
I can not figure out how to remove the boiler and cab from my Bachmann HO 2-6-0 Alco Mogul. My hope is to free them up so as to modify the cab and reposition the headlight and other details... Anyone out there know the secret for separating these parts from the chassis? -Eric

Neewer NL480 LED Lighting Kit Review
Rather than posting a link to my full review I've decided this topic is of enough interest for people looking to get into photographing or filming their model trains that I've decided to repost the whole thing, but edited to stay within a reasonable length for the MRH website.
If you'd like to see the full length review you are welcome to view it on my website's blog.
3D Printing Freitag Foundry and derivatives
"Model Railroader" had a two part series in the April and May 2009 issue on the general methods Dean Freytag used to build "Freitag Foundry".
I stumbled across these articles when I started searching for scale drawings to make my own crane for my IH Farmall West Tractor Works. I already have one Walthers crane on the layout, and I was looking for a more modern crane than what is represented in the Walthers kit.

Athearn/Roundhouse HO scale GP38-2 & GP60 issues
I recently purchased some new HO scale Roundhouse (Athearn) GP38-2 and GP60 engines, their latest run. All five came with an NCE decoder installed from the factory.
I took the first GP38-2 out of the box, programmed it to the road number, and then called up the engine using my NCE Power Cab on a separate program track. At step 1, the engine takes off! No, it does not creep like it should. Okay, maybe I have a bad decoder? So I move on to the next engine, another GP38-2 and the same thing happens! I do this 3 more times and all 5 engines take off.

ESU LokSound V5
Attempting to program a 21 Pnem Version of the V5 using the latest Lok Programmer. I have downloaded the manual, but I find it cryptic at best. I found the previous versions fairly straight forward and logical. The new version is not.
What am I missing or did I download the non-USA version in error?
TAM Valley
Unfortunately, I have been informed that TAM Valley Depot is not longer able to provide a number of their products--including servo turnout controls and assoicated components. However, I have heard various rumors that there may be plans for others to take over the product line. Does anyone have definative information on the future of their product line and, if so, when the above products will become available?
Appolgies in advance if this subject has been previously discussed.

Concealing a helix
I'm planning to build a 2-level HO layout. I've read articles and seen videos about constructing a helix to connect the two levels. I have not seen descriptions / photos / videos about how to conceal the helix with scenery; especially the finished results. I guess I conceptually understand concealing it within mountain terrain. However, my layout will not have mountains. How can I conceal the helix? Example photos and/or videos (both in-process and final results) would be especially helpful. Also, I need advice about how to ma
Hobby Drill Press
Folks,
Looking for some advice on a miniature hobby drill press. Lots of options out there of course, and the reviews seem to be all over the place. I searched this forum and found several references to various machines, but many were several years old.
I'm thinking of the (approx) $200 Proxxon machine; any advice? Other suggestions? I already have a floor model in my shop, which obviously won't work for fine drilling on models.
Thanks,
