Curious of when to start a Journal (blog)

Just wondering from everyone's input really. I think I would like to start a blog (journal) on MRH, (very new to all this) but with the forum moving, should I wait until the bugs are worked out on the new forum or start one here? Any thoughts or input would be great! Tips for Blogging would also be great! I see great things on the forum and I think its time I become more active and stop lurking! Thanks everyone for your time

A setback...Loco problems on the Black N' Blue

Well, just as I was about to start incorporating my harbor module into operation with the rest of the layout, I've hit a setback. I own three locos, a Bachmann Sound Value 2-6-0, a Bachmann Spectrum two truck Climax and an Atlas RS-1. The Climax was already out of commission as one or both of the driveshafts had come loose and at the time, I was busy with other things and just didn't feel like fooling with it so I put it back in it's box and stored it away. In fact, I now realize I hid it from myself but it's around here somewhere.

New Peco Code 70 Turnouts-First Look

The new Peco Unifrog Code 70 left and right turnouts arrived last week, but I was able to unbox and set them on a temporary 2 X 6 test layout until yesterday. None of the track is fastened down.

This is the right hand, the left is behind it.  trackage at foot of turnout is ME Code 70  with ME rail joiners. First track to left is Peco Code 70 and behind that Peco Code 83.

Where are you finding cork sheets these days?

Hi everyone,

With my layout framed and the foam down (1/4 frame on 2" foam), I am moving on to getting the cork roadbed down. However, I am having a bit of an issue finalizing material choice. For background I am modeling 1940s Canadian Pacific in Vancouver. Here's a photo of the yard I am modeling - https://searcharchives.vancouver.ca/canadian-pacific-railway-yard-pier-d... and the yard takes up a good portion of the layout.

Kitbash in a Day : P&R Class GMd gondola

I model the Wilmington & Northern Branch of the Philadelphia & Reading Railway, set in 1903.  My line serves numerous industries related to the iron and steel trade, so I always have need for gondolas.  This is how I kitbashed a model of a P&R class GMd gondola, an early steel gon.  1250 copies were produced by the Pressed Steel Car Co in 1900 and they served until 1934.  My car is kitbashed from an Athearn 50 ft gondola shell and a 36 ft MDC cast metal underframe.  This simple kitbash can be done in a day and will fit right in on any pre-Depression era

Dream Layout.

Hey guys. I am working on designing my dream home, and my dream layout at the same time. I'm conflicted on many aspects of the design and what all I want on the layout. The room is a little over 8000 Sq Ft. Yes I know, it's very large. It is going to be in the basement of the house. I want to incorporate a lot of different of scenes, industries and other things. My plan is to have two decks that are connected with no helixes. The bottom deck will be at 30" and the top deck at 60". A few other things.

PNW Resins

Has anyone used engine shells from PNW Resins? I am thinking of getting a C415 shell and frame from them, they look good.

Ron Bashista RIP

I read in the news that Ron passed away recently.  Ron founded American models and over the years offered us some nice models at very fair prices. All S scalers owe Ron a lot of thanks for his years of service to the hobby. I never met Ron in person but talking over the phone I could tell he was a straight shooter, a guy I'd  want for a friend. He will be sorely missed...Dave B

Advice on Isolating track for AR1 installation and wiring

Hello Model Railroaders

I'm looking for some advice regarding my attached layout. I have a WYE and a Loop (Circled in Blue) in the attached pic. I have indicated where one isolator is located with the 2 red lines cutting the track. Given this design I don't know where the other isolators should go?

Also I want to know if I need to install 2 AR1's and where they should be located?
