Get real, Nolix is just a real big Helix
I hear this term Nolix all the time. But truth be told, it is just a big Helix you can stand in the center of.
or a ointment cream you use for.
NOLIX™ Lotion is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Green Mountain RS-1's
Jack,
Just so we won't high jack Greg's thread I've started a blog. At present I have four pictures. I have more but they are buried amongst 100's of slides and will take a while to dig out. The four I have were scanned on an old scanner and are not very large. I'll have to rescan them some time for a larger picture.
I chased this train from the River jct. in Bellows Falls all the way to Rutland.
Work bee!
This weekend I had a work bee with a friend coming over to help push the layout forward. Chris took on the challenging job of fixing some problematic switches, adding switch machines and wiring them up so they have live frogs.
Of course he asked how to identify the wires for the frogs: why, they're green of course. Everyone knows frogs are green...
0n30. A Cheap Cop Out?
I've heard from time to time, that 0n30 is a narrow gauge rip off. Mostly from the 0n3 modelers that i've run into. But I ask you, is it really? Now i'm not defending this scale because I own 0n30. But I gave the matter some thought over the past couple of years.
Designing a One Town Hawaiian Railway
Inspired by the one town layout concept, I want to explore what can be done in my space using On30 locomotives and rolling stock to represent a very small portion of the OR&L (Oahu Railway & Land Company).
Please share your thoughts and sketches!
I’ve added a “dream space” to keep in mind while developing the first module for future use in a layout. 3/24/18

Follow along as I build this kit from start to finish.
My First Layout - HO Scale Maine set in the 1970s/1980s
Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking out what I am up to and providing essential feedback to make me a better modeler. I am going to only post new content here instead of the various posts I have started over the past few months.
Technically this is not my first layout. My first layout (DC) took 15 months to build the benchwork (three 4x8s in a U shape) and lay all the track. I never got to wiring it. I tore it up after realizing a few adustments would make the hobby more fun:

I was searching the Library of Congress collection of Sanborn insurance maps
Lift Bridge/Gate at the LA & Pasadena RR
Following my yesterday's update on the layout progress here are some photos of the lift-bridge/gate. I was originally considering a swing-gate but for my particular application a lift-bridge/gate proved more easy/reliable as a solution.
I was concerned initially with how trains would track on this and potential alignment issues. A lot of effort has been put into making the benchwork adjacent to the gate as solid as possible (one end is a peninsula...).
In the end it operates as it should with zero problems so far.
Thanks in advance for stopping by!
