On30 Gondola repaint Bachmann 18' low-side

Hi everyone,

Having decided to run ON30 projects on the side of the HO scale ones, i started work on a Bachmann low-side On30 18' gondola.

I painted all the wooden parts using Vallejo acrylics using various shades to represent weathered wood planks.

Subsequently, i used oil/enamel washes and after this, drybrushing with acrylics again.

I originally planned on painting the exterior of the car and then have paint peeling effects but, as I see it now, I ll opt for an unpainted look (Old-West in 1870s theme).

Scenery progress at LA & Pasadena RR

Hello everyone,

A long overdue update, following the re-alignment of the tracks as described here:

https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/39349

I worked on the area between industry #1 and all along the right wall of the layout's room, on something like 40% of the mainline. After removing old track carefully (no damage) and re-installing turnouts & tortoises, i proceeded with work on the backdrop and scenery. I thought of finishing first with the least seen part of the layout and leave the more enjoyable parts for later on.

Trackplan revision at ATSF's Pasadena Route!

FRISCO Boxcar project (40' PS-1, Kadee, HO)

Hi all,

I have been working recently on a boxcar project which just got finished and took its place on the layout today. It started off as a Kadee boxcar factory painted with various stencils/diagrams. The car was disassembled to put it back into kit form (time lost...). Paint was removed with lots of sanding at parts in order to get rid of the (pad-printed?) diagrams/stencils. Subsequently it was painted using Vallejo colors based on recipes out of MRH's excellent acrylic color guide.

Warehouse on a curve! LA & Pasadena RR (HO Scale)

Long overdue update on the layout,

NP 40' Boxcars project (HO)

Hi all,

I finished 2 NP 40' boxcars based on Trix/Marklin 40' cars. The original cars had their paint removed and were disassembled. Following conversion of their sills to the correct NP ones and alterations on the side rivets, they were primed. Painting was done with mixes from Gunze and Tamiya paints while I used Microscale's decals. Roofs were painted with shades of Alclad2 and were weathered using salt-weathering. The rest of the weathering was done using enamels/oils.

Fascia Control Panels in LA, Pasadena & Cucamonga RR

Hi all,

Long overdue update on the progress at the LA, Pasadena & Cucamonga RR.

Since the last update, the fascia has been finished and painted and curtains have been added as skirting. The topic of this update concerns all the fascia control panels that have been designed, built, painted and installed in order to control the tortoises.

Lift Bridge/Gate at the LA & Pasadena RR

Following my yesterday's update on the layout progress here are some photos of the lift-bridge/gate. I was originally considering a swing-gate but for my particular application a lift-bridge/gate proved more easy/reliable as a solution.

I was concerned initially with how trains would track on this and potential alignment issues. A lot of effort has been put into making the benchwork adjacent to the gate as solid as possible (one end is a peninsula...).

In the end it operates as it should with zero problems so far.

Thanks in advance for stopping by!
