Yannis

Hi all,

Long overdue update on the progress at the LA, Pasadena & Cucamonga RR.

Since the last update, the fascia has been finished and painted and curtains have been added as skirting. The topic of this update concerns all the fascia control panels that have been designed, built, painted and installed in order to control the tortoises.

The are made out of styrene (circa 0.10"). Painted with hammered-effect paint & acrylics. The plastic labels are also styrene, airbrushed in layers. For the electrics, 3mm leds, dpdt switches with stainless steel switch-guards added.

I hope you like them, thanks in advance for your time and comments. Pics to follow...

Work in progress for the panels

Here is a panel primed before sanding

After sanding and painting the hammered effect paint. I chose heavy brush painting in order to have a heavy-industrial panel look (similar to the dashboards seen in F7's in the sixties/seventies).

I'm a sucker

I'm a sucker for anything Art Deco. Raymond Lowey would be proud!

George and Mark thanks!

Thank you very much for the kind words!

George, that is one of the greatest compliments that one could get (the reference to Lowey...great icon and inspiration). Many thanks for this, it is very motivating.

If you like art-deco / streamline moderne then this layout will be filled to the brim with it...(ok and Colonial/Med Revival as well ).

most impressive

Captures that early diesel era look beautifully. And I like the U-bolt switch protectors. I'll suggest that to a friend that's reworking his layout now that he has to use a power chair. There's a couple spots where recessing the panels isn't practical. Scott Chatfield

Scott and Deemiorgos many thanks!

Thank you for your compliments, much appreciated!

The U-bolts do prove useful and in my opinion add to the look i was going after despite posing design restrictions (on the panel design i mean). Stray jackets etc... wont be messing with the toggle switches now.

Depending on the design and availability one can use small-sized drawer handles instead of u-bolts.
