WANTED: Kansas City area layout photographer

MRH needs a local Kansas City modeler who knows how to take layout photos at some TMTV video sessions in Kansas City this month.

You would visit the layouts the same day as the TMTV camera crew and be able to use their lights to take the photos. You will be reimbursed for any expenses incurred and will be paid for the photos as each article appears in the magazine.

You may need to gather some supplementary information to assist with MRH producing a track plan (depends on what the layout owner already has available) and you will need to provide captions for the photos you take.

Free Photo Stacking Software

Seems like there has been much discussion on focus /phot stacking. For the last few weeks I have looked through different methods and software. In my search I came across a photography blog by Ruben Larsson. http://rubenlarsson.blogspot.com/2008/12/merge-photos-with-different-focus.html In his blog he discussed using Combine ZM software for stacking (it's free). He clearly wrote the steps from start to finish. And I have to say, there aren't many and it's fairly simple.

A New Beginning, Chapter 5

I am going to try and do a little step by step on some of the procedures to get the J&M up and running. My first sections of cork are glued down, sanded and ready for trackwork. I always try and start with turnouts as they have to be precise. Flextrack can move to accomadate turnouts. Trying something different this time when attaching feeder wires. Soldering them underneath the rail joiners and feeding through holes in the roadbed.

ALPINE RAILROAD IN NJ-EVOLUTION IN PICS PART III

Due to the nature of my job I was unexpectedly out of work from last Christmas until te beginning of May which presented a wonderful opportunity to fill the cold winter days by working on my layout uninterrupted. In that time I feel like I achieved quite a lot on the layout construction itself as well as building structures and whatnot. Like most railroad modelers, I tend to get "on a track" of maybe wiring for a while then when I get bored I shift gears and build a structure or two or maybe work on scenery.

The building of the "ANNELIESVILLE RR" / Layout Design.

Bonjour Railroad modelers,

This is the ANNELIESVILLE trackplan that I posted on the 'Trackplan Database'.

It's a rural & coastal type of branchline with a rather 'narrow gauge feel' since I love this type of Railroads. Plus the fact that the late Paul Scoles inspired me with his type of 'imaginary' and overall feel. I also tried to follow guidelines & info from Lance Mindheim, to keep things simple and manageable. It's not my first build but it's always a challenge to build in this size.

NCE Light It Caboose Marker Light

After years of not finishing a 555 timer circuit for this cabin car I decided to try an NCE Light It lighting decoder. For this application, it performs very well on the test track. I added a 5.5v 1f super capacitor as a keep alive. The 1f capacitor is overkill. It keeps the decoder led interior light and 0603 marker light led for a few minutes (I was hoping for 10 seconds) and according to my power cab, only draws a maximum of 0.08 amps inflow. Adding the decoder to the caboose took only an hour or so but the truck pick ups and 0603 led light were already on the caboose.

ALPINE RAILROAD IN NJ-EVOLUTION IN PICS

As promised I am including some pics showing the evolution of my railroad over the last 3+ years. As stated previously, this is really two layouts in one with a DC elec loco layout and a DCC steam and diesel layout.
