New to model trains, wanting to set up for disabled child
I am wanting to get a set up for my disabled child. He has physical as well as cognitive issues. I don’t want to continue to purchase battery operated trains with cheap plastic track that he is unable to manipulate without breaking the tabs. He also has issues with getting the cars to sit on the tracks correctly so that they will run around without falling off. I just need to know a starting point as I have no clue with anything means or what’s available for disabled people in regards to model trains. I don’t understand the difference in gauge, dc, doc power, etc.
16 VAC transformer
Hi, I've got an electrical question, hoping someone here can help. I found 2 wall-wart transformers from an old phone system, which I thought were DC output, but they aren't. Their output is 16 VAC, 250mA.
So, the question is, what could they be used for on the railroad (N-scale, if that matters)? I know pretty much everything is DC-powered, so I'm thinking they might not be of any use, but thought I'd get some advice before throwing them out. Who knows, might be useful for something.
Thanks

Hiding liftout hinges?
Hi All, I started framing up a lift out access section for my CCT layout today. Due to aisle configuration I want the section to lift up 90 degrees on hinges ( it will be latched to a free standing backdrop when in the up position). The hinges need to be raised up above the benchtop so the pivot point is above the rail top. So now I'm looking for ways to hide or camouflage the hinges. Anyone have any examples of how they have done this,(or seen it done somewhere?) ......DaveB
A New Beginning, Chapter 2
Hello again, fellow modelers. Saturday I took a road trip into rural Northern Indiana to pick up the benchwork that was built for me by Benchridge Benchworks and to see Matt's gorgeous layout. This morning, in about 3 hours, I was able to get the entire thing built. And boy is it solid! Very easy to put together. Bolts and T-nuts and and that's all it took.

Summertime at the Bridge to Nowhere
So the Bridge to Nowhere is all fixed up. More trees, shrubs, animals, people, autos, and trains too. A bit of paint around the outside of the diorama, and now I have something to show visitors when they stop by.

Using a PR3 with JMRI
OK, so it's been some time since I utilized my PR3. I know I had it hooked up and running trains on my cell phone using it but I want to confirm with the experts if it will work as a standalone without a Digitrax DCC system, or do you need the command station or just a booster? I'm guessing you need the command station, but thought I would check.

Brick Paint Color
I am looking for info on the color that could be used for the cheaper brick that might be used on the sides and back of a brick building.
