Finishing the Train Elevator

Back working on the train elevator after a pause. Rebuilt the connecting track to improve alignment -- the prior arrangement needed some fiddling when the layout had to be moved. This one doesn't.

Layout Side

The two key parts of this design are the locator pins and the vertical alignment finger on the left. These mate with the elevator side as:

Bedroom Layout

I have been searching for many hours today to find an internet image of a bedroom layout I recall seeing a number of years ago when I was looking thru MANY magazines for model railroad items scenery, layout designs etc. I was searching in response to a particular person who was looking for just such information. I recall making copies of this layout idea to be passed out at my friends train shop, to those city people who just might be looking for a 'bedroom/spare room layout'.

Natural grass uses

I have continued the journey of searching for natural products to use on my layout.  My last blog demonstrated the use of natural material for tree armatures and for foreground quality bare trees.  Today I was in the field and found grasses.  I cut off numerous tips and found a few uses that many might find useful.  Here is what they look like from the field

Metal Casting

I need to Model a goodly number of flat cars for our logging line,  spicificly those used at Cass West Virginia.

these where wood cars.  The had basically 4 large wood beams running the whole length of the car with cross members and used trussrods.  On top of this was the standard wood flatcar deck.

Scratch Built HO scale cattle/stock pens

Has anyone out there scratch built a small HO scale rail served stock pen, if so do you have plans you would be willing to share? I have built the Walthers (kit bashed) stock pen kit, but would like to build a small one for a spot on my layout. I looked all over the internet with no luck.

Recommended booster for an old Zephyr

Hi all, I have a Digitrax Zephyr that I have had for at least 13 or 14 years now that I never did more than test run a few locomotives with. I'm now at a point where i have the time to start doing more with DCC and one of the things I am seeing is that I need a booster for my Zephyr to be able to program some of the newer decoders. So, can anyone recommend what I can use that won't cost me an arm and a leg and the best way to use it? Thanks for any help.
