How can we make videos about operations more interesting?

How can we make videos about operations more interesting?

This great question was posed by Thomas Gasior on tonights YouTubeModelBuildersLive show ( www.youtubemodelbuilders.com )

I think it's a great question. What do you guys think about this?

Carbody Filter Detail

Hello

I'm looking for advice on a particular locomotive detail part. I want to retrofit a pair of Norfolk and Western RS-11s to be more accurate for their paint scheme. This means replacing the horn with a proper 5-chime and adding a detail part over the existing carbody filters. Here is a photo for reference: http://rr-fallenflags.org/nw/nw327ads.jpg

I also want to kitbash a T-6 using an S-4 as the base for the project. These locomotives also had similar carbody filters as the RS-11 and here's a photo link: http://rr-fallenflags.org/nw/nw48ags.jpg

Balancing track and scenery

I'm working on my track design and have a tough time using track design software and graph paper.  I have built my open grid benchwork for my 9x11 around the room layout.  My depth for all the benchwork is 24" as any wider I wouldn't reach all the way across.

I'm one who likes to layout the track and then look at it for days and imagine running my trains around the layout.  I will be running this layout solo as its a way for me to go into my own little world.

Port of Morehead City- Long Overdue Update

It's been far too long since my last update. While work on the layout has been moving at an absolutely glaical pace for the past several months, this last week I've been working feverishly to get some work done. The main thing I've accomplished since the last post was the completion of the trackwork.

Fort Langley station in TT scale

Well, everybody of us needs at least one station for the layout or diorama or even running trains on the table!
There are very few station buildings available in TT scale. Of course, somebody can use small flagstop station from BTS, or try to find some old stations on Ebay (I have one), or use some German or Czech buildings, but it is not enough!

pictures only coming up on my cmment page(?)

I just posted 4 pic but they only seem to come up on my comment page (?)

Layout Animation Idea

This is a layout animation idea I came up that requires no motors and actually uses the trains momentum to power it. The idea I came up with uses a flat gear (rack) on the track and a gear sticking out from below the car. When the car passes over the rack gear it would move the animation. With varied rack length and teeth on the pinion (round gear) you could have almost limitless possibilities. I would try this myself but have two problems:

1. No available gears

2. I do not have a car to "butcher" and cut a hole in the bottom of.

Marker Lights

Brand new, out-of-the-box engine or caboose marker lights for which I need help identifying a part/connection. These heavy markers have a brass knurled fitting on one side that is threaded and appears to have a gasket. The top is marked "Adlake" and has a hinged access cap.
