Question about RR depots
Most old-fashioned railroad depots I've seen have a bay window sort of thing on the side facing the tracks. If the station is located between two tracks, would it have a bay window on both sides?
IMC Intering Kokomo, North bound
A look at the IMC (Indianapolis, Michigan City) line of the Nickel Plate entering south side of Kokomo, Indiana on my version. Oops that train is leaving town, just past where the gas tower of Kokomo Gas will set.
This pic was taken late fall of 2014, have now finished the grade down to the stagging that is on the peninsula on the left
Switch Size
As I'm planning my layout I use all Atlas code 100 track and have a mix of #4 and #6 custom line switches. As I'm planning this layout and because I have more modern passenger and freight cars I wonder if I should even consider using the #4 switches on the layout or just retire them. My layout will be a 9x11 around the room layout.
I was thinking of using the #6 switches on the main line and the #4 switches in any yards that I may have. Just curious what others have done.
Scratchbuilt Flatcar Project
I have been working on scratch building a flatcar in On30 for my Monashee Pass Railway. The car is based on a SP (Southern Pacific) narrow guage prototype. I created the drawing templates below with a CAD program and developed some of my own construction techniques. I also used the article by Russ Watson in the 2008 On30 Annual to guide me along.

Model Citizens is in Post-Production
I have not seen it mentioned here yet, so here it is... The model Citizens project is in Post Production and Sara is running another kickstarter to fund the final phase of the project.
Here's the pitch from the Kickstarter page:

Update on the town of Watersmeet (Road building)
Making of the road that runs between Ironwood & Watersmeet. Road being taped for striping. I cut the road out of .060 styrene, 3" wide then glued it to HO scale track cork to bring it to the same level as the track for the grade crossing.
Burnishing the tape for a good seal

Update on the town of Ironwood
Here is the update on the town of Ironwood, MI. I have built & placed all of the buildings that will go into town. Laid out & painted the streets and am now getting ready to paint the road striping.
All the buildings are either DPM or Walthers kits. Here they are primed and ready for the final finish painted to be done. A couple are already finished painted.

Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad - Steam Loco Run By Video 5-12-15
Last week I got to visit Michael Rose while he was recovering from his recent health issues and started my visit as usual on his back porch having coffee and delicious cake (sorry no pictures) with Michael and his wife. Michael is required to take at easy but was going a little stir crazy just sitting around. He insisted that we go to his train room (building) and who was I to argue with him?
Coal Loading
To All: Did you know that coal was transported in gondolas and boxcars. Yes coal was transported in bocars, sometimes the boxcars were partitioned off for different grades in the same car. The Ottumwa Box Car Loading Company manufactured a machine that loaded coal in boxcars! It was called a Rocker Type Loader, as it rocked the car back and forth to evenly distribute the coal load. This method was used into the 1960's. This loading machine would make an interesting modeling project! There are photos of these machines on the internet. Yours, Elvin Howland/E.
