Switch Stand Help?
Has anyone ever re-assembled a Caboose 204S sprung high-level stand? It's my fault it came apart but the components are all there, I think. The question is can it be put back together? (Or is it not worth the effort; buy a new one? Which I think is the easiest solution but I want to hear if anyone has an idea. The manufacturer didn't reply when I emailed a request to see if they had a schematic.)

Double Track Bascule Bridge
Has anyone ever modified a Walthers bascule bridge to accommodate two tracks?
Walthers 933-3070 HO Motorized Bascule Bridge
Perhaps leave out the 'motorized' feature?
Or examples of some other double track bascule bridges in HO scale?
I thought I had seen an example, but can't remember where??
Help! Wiring a Peco Insulfrog
I have several Insulfrog turnouts on my railroad. The frog is a metal frog, but appears to be similar to a white metal casting. I want to power these frogs since I run several short-wheelbase steam locomotives, but conventional solder does not stick to what appears to be a connection tab with a hole in it adjacent to the frog. Does anyone have a suggestion for making a solid electrical connection to this type of frog? My only option seems to be drill and tap a hole and insert a brass screw in the hole to hold the connection.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Manual Turnout Control by Cable
Basically I like the KISS principle. I like the idea of manual control for my turnouts where possible, particularly with Peco sprung turnouts.
I'm looking for as many ideas as possible for flexible 'cable control' of turnouts.

The Cats Are GONE!!!
I have been away from the hobby for a bit, due to family. Our daughter returned home to finish college, We support all our children in their endeavors. Unfortunately she came with two cats. We love our daughter, not so much the cats.

Single Slip verses Double Slip Turnouts?
Would anyone mind giving me their thoughts about using a single slip turnout rather than a double slip one,...positives vs negatives.??
I have in mind a place where I think the single slip would be advisable over a double, but before describing my particular situation I was looking to hear generalities about the two.
Electrofrogs and Hex Frog Juicers
Hi,
I'm about to start wiring a bunch of Peco Electrofrog turnouts for my layout and am thinking about using a Tam Valley Hex Frog Juicer. According to the Tam Valley Hex Frog Juicer manual PDF on their website it states:
"Do not modify your electrofrog - just wire the frog juicer to the frogs (silver wires on bottom of turnout) as they come. The frog juicer will take care of the rest."
MinWax for staining ties
Looking to stain several thousand ties and I have seen many mention the use of MinWax stains. What do you use as the medium to mix in the stain or do you just use full strength stain right out of the can? Is 91% isopropyl alcohol ok to use?
If there is a better method using 91% isopropyl alcohol I am interested in knowing being that I have 4 quarts of the stuff.
Thanks
Michael

I started a blog in 2017 to document the creation of my Z scale Alpine layout (all Marklin locos and rolling stock with mixed products for just about everything else). You can see my posts at the end of this page.
I went with Z scale because I wanted to make the most of a layout in a limited space and I had bought some Marklin Z rolling stock, locos and track many years ago for "the day" I would start a layout.

Eco/cork/foam Roadbed?
I saw this product in local big box store yesterday,...underlayment for laminate flooring, etc.
Cheaper than cork. Perhaps a replacement for cork roadbed?
