DCC - Electrical

New in Review: 16-Port DCC LED Scene Controller II, from Model Train Technology

This is an independent review of an accessory lighting controller for layout structure LED lighting; the unit provides automatic current matching without resistors, supports up to 64 LEDs, supports any of 100 different lighting effects on each of 16 ports, and can be programmed from a front panel or using a DCC throttle.

MARs lights with DCC

A question came up about what sort of bulb/LED & or modification was required to make our MARS lighted locos operate on DCC?

Never really thought about this, but are you saying that all those locos that we have with 'stock factory MARS lights' don't operated with DCC installed??

On another note, how about these flashing lights on a trackmobile??

Multiple NCE Boosters

Hey guys, so it's getting to the point on Nolan's layout that were ready to split the wiring into two broad booster districts, with that subdivided into power districts. My question is whether we can turn both the command station and booster on at once, or whether we have to turn on the command station on first and then the booster in sequence as we do with the club's Digitrax System. I never messed with NCE, so this is a little out of my knowledge base.

    Thanks in advance,

What's on your workbench? February 2020

January was a rough month to start the year off with and I'm ready for work this month, albeit a few hours early. That extra day on the end will certainly make a difference! Let's see what you've got.

Unable to Read Decoder

After trashing my Raspberry Pi by attempting to upgrade to "Buster", I had to start over from scratch with a new system load. Since I lost my JMRI loco info, I had to re-read all my decoders to reestablish the roster. I have 13 engines with self added decoders and all but one was easily re-read and the roster recreated.

Bowser Sound Equipped Locos

Folks,

Wondering if anyone has any experience with Bowser sound equipped locos (newer ones)?  I was looking at this one, a just released Baldwin DS 4-4-1000 loco (HO scale):

I'm wondering how they perform (slow speed, sound, etc) as compared to, say, Stewarts or Genesis locos?  No one at the local club, or the local NMRA group, seems to have any experience with Bowser locos.

Thanks!

Downsizing OSCR - turnout removal as per prototype

When I talk about downsizing, I'm not saying the overall size of the layout. In fact, the Ontario South Central Railway has grown 4 1/2 feet with a long staging/Interchange since its inception at its first location. My issue is turnouts. I have about 4 I have to replace. About $150 worth. And as a musician and near min. wage job I can't afford to do that. So...what to do?

Help needed making your own booster connection cable for Roco Z21

Hi Guys and ladies

I need some help with the wiring of a booster cable for a Roco z21. I need to know if the two RJ connectors are wired as a cross over, or how the wiring goes from the left to the right RJ connector. I only need about a 12 inch cable and most of the ones for sale are 6 feet or longer.

Thanks
