JMRI/Decoder Pro with Windows 7?
With the upcoming loss of support for Windows 7 I'm in the market for a new laptop. So I was wondering if anyone is successfully running the newest version of JMRI/Decoder Pro on a Windows 7/32 bit PC?
I've looked into upgrading my old laptop to Windows 10, but that looks like a lot of work. If I can run windows 7 for the layout without connecting it to the Internet that would be fine. I'll clean out everything but JMRI after I get the new laptop up and running.

ESU Decoder Programming?
I am contemplating buying an Atlas locomotive that comes with ESU LokSound. Around here, Tsumami seems to be the popular choice to the point our resident DCC expert can get worked up about it when comparing the two. He convinced me I could not program my Tsunami decoders on the programming track and was talked into buying JMRI decoder pro. Now he tells me if I go with LokSound I can't use Decoder Pro but need to buy their programming tool and like Tsunami can not use the programming track. Is this correct?

LED wiring question
I was wondering if it would be possible to power small LEDs using DCC track voltage. I wanted to use the DCC track bus wiring to power a Tomar dwarf signal that contains small LED lighting.

SMA33 Working Single Axle HO Traction Motors: Success at Cajon Pass
Prototype diesel-electric locomotives use a diesel engine driving an electric generator to power DC (or more recently AC) motors wrapped around a single axle of a wheelset. The equivalent is not usually found in HO scale… until now. There is a story behind this, with a path leading in unanticipated directions. A “working” HO single axle traction motor can be built. This bit of experimental modeling starts here, but this is likely not the end of the story.

Broadway Limited 'Address Changer'
I bought one of these about 6 months ago, but have never yet used it. Being a novice at this DCC decoder program subject, this item appealed to me. Recent I was told it would not work on a project loco I have.
I got mine out and read the literature and the instructions. Everything I read tells me it works on ALL NMRA compliant decoders & locomotives in HO & N, and even Z scales according to the instructions.

Getting into those RTR cars
Joe's topic in his Running Extra Publisher's Welcome is on the materials he is using to add more weight to his cars. https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/magazine/running-extra/2019-11/publishers-welcome
DCC on an analog layout.
My layout is DC cab control. I see lots of new locomotives labeled DCC ready, and some that apparently have DCC controllers but can run on regular DC, Do these suffer in terms of throttle response on regular DC in comparison to older DC locomotives?
