Micro Trains SW-9 Decoder

I am trying to determine if there is a decoder that will work for a Micro Trains SW-9.

A while ago, Micro Trains released two sets called the "Wreck Recovery Train" and "MOW Work Train". According to the boxes, the locos that come in these sets are SW-9s.

These are fairly old and I am wondering if anyone knows:

Can these take a decoder (without needing to completely rebuild the frames)?

If so, which decoder?

I can find a number of references for MT SW-1500s, but no SW-9s.

BLI Trackmobile with DIY keep alive

Someone asked here a while back about putting a "keep alive" circuit in a BLI trackmobile.  Well that got me thinking on how.

Anyways here are a few photos and a short video.

DK Electronice (Adafruit) motor shield

Greetings!

I am new to the DCC++ world and trying to setup my N scale system. I have a Raspberry Pi running JMRi. it is connected to a UNO with a DK Electronics motor shield. All seems to be working up to the motor shield. I am wondering if the DK Electronics motor shield works with the DCC++ setup. Any help would be wonderful!

ESU LoKPorgrammer woes with latest software upgrade - Solved

13-Jan - see my last post - was able to revive the dead decoder.

I don't detect any chatter on the ESU forum on this, did submit a query there, but also trying here.

I recently upgraded to version 5.0.10, which is the latest version. I am trying to reload an existing sound file that I have successfully used and reloaded in the past. Now I get one of these messages shortly after the progress window says "Reading CVs".

Mostly I get "the detected decoder is not supported".

Powering frogs with Caboose groundthrows

I’m only now converting my layout to DCC after operating for years on friends layouts that use it. A lot of this will be new construction. I've always liked Peco turnouts and used them extensively on my old layouts with great success but I see they are a bit more complicated using dcc, at least according to what I’ve been reading online. Seems like  a huge variety of opinions on all this.

Power/power booster requirements for DCC layout

I am finally in layout construction mode again as it gets further along, I'll need to be planning for power capacity to the rails in DCC operatoin.

The layout is planned to have:

- 1 approx 30' main yard with switching operations to local industries and engine facility.

- About 85 feet of mainline with two 21' passing sidings

- 1 staging yard with 14 staging tracks.

Help wiring crossover with frog juicers

I received a Peco SL-E383F Scissors Crossover for Christmas and a Frog Juicers is required. Could anyone help me determine the correct juicer to use and show a wiring diagram to connect the 4 wires from the switch?

Thank you in advance.

Block Detection in an DCC environment

For starters,  what I know about block detection could be printed in foot tall letters on the edge of a razor blade.

Getting that out of the way I have been trying to follow Joe's advice and plan for block detection/signals in my wiring and operations (CTC) plan.

Last year purchased a Digikeijs DR5000 " Mid " set that has control unit, wireless throttle, 5 amp booster and 32 channel ( 2 x 16 channel units ) occupancy detection. I had hoped I was sorta "future-proofing" my power/wiring selection.

NCE PowerPro/ProCab troubleshooting

My PowerPro 5Amp system seems to have stopped working. Specifically I have the 5Amp system with the radio controlled ProCab.  Everything was fine until mid-afternoon today.  I have summarized the issue and provided all the troubleshooting I did and sent the write-up to NCE, but figured I would post it here too in case anyone has suggestions.

As I said, everything as fine, and then not.  The main symptoms are:

1) Left side LED ;labelled Status flashes red rapidly.
