8 pin vs 9 pin DCC plug
I have a Bachmann Shay I purchased about 15 Years ago....it has a 8 pin DCC socket. My problem is that I have a decoder with a 9 pin plug. So my question is can the 9 pin decoder be used with the 8 pin plug by soldering the wires to the 8 pin plug? If so which wire color would go to each spot on the socket? I should elaborate that the 9 pin decoder has a plug with wires attached for soldering
Wiring of the Shippensburg Yard Lead...

Bachmann lighting and DCC
Hey all,
Just received a Bachmann On30 coach/observation car with a lighted interior, which came with absolutely no paperwork. I've tried looking everywhere and can't seem to find a square answer...
Will these cars work out of the box on DCC, or do I need to rework the electronics to make them DCC friendly?
In case it matters, currently working with an NCE Powercab system.
Thanks for any help!
Ben
What system works best with Bachman On30
I picked up a couple of On30 steam engines at a train show. They both have factory DCC and sound. What system optimizes their operation best?
Repower and DCC/Sound for an old HO brass boxcab
Hi,
I don't have any experience with remortoring or DCC upgrades, but I want to give it a try. I have this old brass boxcab of unknown manufacture (although KTM is stamped on motor.) I would like to repower it and have it running under DCC/Sound and perhaps keep-alive. It would be used for switching and running on small layouts. I have been researching what others have done, learning about some basics.
Simple question
One thing I don't remember being discussed, but is not very important. Certainly not to me.
The DCS50 and many other command stations all do a simple loco number change. You put the loco on the programming track; in "PAGE" or "dir" mode and you click "LOCO", and again or such until you get Ad4/usually. You then enter your 4 digit loco number/usually. You then click "LOCO" again. And you are basically done.
Woodland Scenics Segemnts by Miles....
Recently I was catching up on all my TMTV segments, and it here was one by Miles, I Believe, where he was explaining Woodland Scenics Just Light system to someone, and he talked about getting some extra female plugs from Pololu to make our own Expansion adding our own lights already installed o our Layouts. I can’t remember the Part number he stated, nor can I remember the episode he was in. Thought I had added it to my favorites, but alas did not.
Can anyone refer me to the season and/episode that was?
Thanks Much,
Atlas Genset & ESU Loksound
Hi from the UK,
Upfront declaration: I am a DCC sound novice.
I recently bought a Atlas Genset. I believe it's one of their earlier releases. It's the CSX #1302 (Atlas Ref 10 001 195). Ive been looking at adding DCC & sound to it. I've found information about using the Soundtraxx TSU-PNP decoder and their speaker, however, after reading Joe Fugate's editorial about decoder standardisation, I'd like to find a ESU Loksound solution as the only other loco I've got is the Rapido B36-7 which came with a Loksound decoder.
Tsunami 1 vs Tsunami 2 decoders
So what are the opinions, virtues, etc of the first Tsunami verses the Tsunami 2 sound decoders.
I've been offered a deal on the #1's from a gentleman who likes to replace the older ones with the number 2's.
If I am not a real 'rivet counter' about sounds, what else do I lose??
Data Locations for LokProgrammer 5
I have installed the LokProgrammer 5 software on my Windows 10 PC. I established the locations of the Project and Template data files (which can be user determined) without any problem.
With the older LokProgrammer 4 software, in addition to those data files, the software also created folders in at least two other locations that I've discovered:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ESU\LokProgrammer4\Autosave
C:\Users\username\Documents\LokProgrammer4
