Converting a Athearn HO scale Trainmaster from DC to DCC Truck Issue?
Hi,
I'm in the process of converting my Athearn Blue Box Locomotives from DC to DCC. I have a HO scale Athearn Trainmaster I have a issue with. The trucks are made out of diecast material and my decoder is getting heated up pretty quickly. I am using a DH126D Digitrax / Mobile Dcdr 2FX 1/2-Amp . Does anyone know if there is a plastic version of the trucks? The diecast part number is ATH 43016 and ATH 43017. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Motor shield problems
I'm using Jmri with DCC++ basestation, arduino uno and Doit 2 motor, 16 servo motor shield. Successfully modified basestation sketch for shield and can run locos. Problem is I can't switch turnouts (DCC++ monitor sends cmd) nor can I read the Mcp23017. I2c scanner sketch shows motor shield address 0x40 and Mcp23017 as address 0x20 as expected. Think I have relevant sketches but need help.
Digitrax UP5 Mounting
Folks,
I want to "surface mount" a couple of Digitrax UP-5's. They are designed for flush mounting, by cutting a hole in your fascia and using the 4 corner screw holes to affix it.
But in my case, I don't want to cut a hole in my fascia, which is 1/8 thick flush mounted against my longitudinal benchwork joists (1x4 pine). So I want to somehow find a box or something that I could mount the UP-5 to (I'd have to use a piece of styrene or something as a cover plate, probably), and then surface mount the box to the fascia.
DCC CV spreadsheet
Double headed locomotives require speed matching to run well together, especially true for switching. I used page 50 in the NCE PowerCab manual rev.1.65 . Control Variables ( CV''s ) should be changed in programming mode so that the initial setting of a CV ( Cryptic Vexation?

MHR forum is a great source for electronics help and advice and for DCC
Some of us are really great teacher to help and to share some easy circuits which are extremely helpful, easy to build and affordable by the most of us.
I assume not all of us are electronic technician, so the way it works need to be simple and affordable for the most of us.
With the help of these great teacher, big step in electronic where shared on the MHR forums, like easy to build detector, Arduino application, servo use.
Independant protoypical signal system, for ALL scales.

Decoder Inquiry - SoundTraxx vs. ESU
Hi – New here but have been an "unregistered" reader for a while. I tried to find a search function before posting but I didn’t see one specifically for the forums.
Want to know people’s experience and or recommendations with mobile decoders for locomotives. (I’ve always had someone take care of my electronics since its never really been my thing. I’ve decided to take this on myself when they told me they won’t work with LEDs.)
Keep Alive = Speed Matching Troubles?
I’ve run into a mindboggling issue with Speed Matching and I’m wondering if keep-alive circuits could be at fault. The problem is simply that a few of my speed-matched locos need a warm-up period before they reach their fastest speed at any speed step. Until then they run as much as 10% slower.
How do I use a Verizon Ellipsis android tablet for JMRI
I have a Verizon Ellipsis android tablet that I would like to use with JMRI. I use NCE PowerCab and I have the NCE USB Interface. Not sure which JMRI to install. Any help?
Thanks,Ted
