Oh! For the love of ...

Last weekend we had our second local FreeMoN get together.  It was a lot of fun!  We were hosted at the Columbia Gorge Model Railroad Club, and set up in their clubhouse.  They were there getting ready for their open house season (Christmas time), so a lot of the club members were there.  A motorcycle group was also getting a private tour of the HO layout, resulting in quite the audience!  Five of us brought modules, but Adam's was not fully operational and did not get set up.

LK&O Benchwork

A thread for those wanting to follow along with the benchwork construction phase of my railroad.

I have been doing some research on the line I want to model, the MC from Owosso Michigan to Paines, Mi.  Here are a few of the things I have found so far.  The Canada Southern site has some great timetables, maybe 1949 will be my year because there are a lot of tables available for my route in that year.  The beaded bells site is great as well, I definitely want to include the town of Henderson on my layout, this site has pictures and stories about many of the downtown buildings, which were trackside.  I am also preparing the layout rooms, almost done re-wiring the la

Human nature is a pretty predictable creature. We dive head first into a project, expect it to take a certain amount of time, and then easily get distracted. That's what is happening to me. Decals are all ready to go

I finally decided on the branding that I liked. You will see later in the post where I am going with this.

I have finished painting all of the locos and the cabooses (cabeese?).

Here is a shot of the four locos and two cabooses. They have all been coated with Johnson's Klear in preparation of adding the decals.

Color help

Have a question that I am hoping I can get answered here.  I am modeling my favorite railroad, the Yancey Railroad, and they purchased their #2, a GE 50 tonner, from the US Navy.  It remained in US Navy livery until 1975, but I am modeling 1969.  I have no color photos of this unit; all are in black and white.  My question is: What color comes close to what the US Navy used in the late 40's?  Everyone calls it a blue-grey.  I looked through the Floquil charts and see nothing that comes close.  Maybe use GN Big Sky Blue and add a few drops of grey?&n

BLMA RADIO ANTENNA

to all....i recently purchased this BLMA radio antenna for my "N" scale "glendale AZ" depot.  the instructions say to bend your tower & "glue" it together. it doesn't mention what type of glue. so proceeded to use "CA" cement. i have assembled a few other etched metal models with no problem using "CA" . for some reason, the "CA" is not working on this model.
