GLENDALE AZ DEPOT FINALLY COMES TO MY LAYOUT
to all...here are a couple of pics of the depot in glendale az. & also a short summery of it's history.
i was going to scratch build this structure but , one day when i was on ebay, i found this plasticville model that is very close to the prototype. so i thought for $10.00 i would take a chance. when i received the kit, i was surprised to see it was a snap together kit.
The Brandywine & Benedictine Railroad - Suwanee, GA
This is the fourth layout I operated on at Dixie Rails. It is a great example of a well planned layout and a great craftsman. The B & B is in two parts very good investment in time to watch both, many great ideas. You will have to open post to see second link to part II.

Last OP session on the HO scale BC Rail Dawson Creek Sub
Last week marked the end of regular operations on my BC Rail Dawson Creek Sub layout. I've spent the past 3 years building the layout but recently me and my wife have decided to "pull the trigger" and have a new home constructed. In the past few years I've been a part of an informal group of local modelers who get together every week for operating sessions on each others layouts.
Last of the Hardshell
This past week I completed the last of the hard shell scenery on the layout. I have worked my way around the layout in a somewhat hap-hazard fashion until all that was left to do was small portion of hard shell where the Wilson Bridge Branch leaves the room and heads to staging. The photo below shows the area with first pieces of cardboard webbing in place and the tunnel portal prior to weathering.
The Detroit Terminal East Industrial Track
Just added another blog post with background about the Detroit Terminal Railroad that I'm planning. I'm taking elements of the former Detroit Terminal, as well as the modern-day Conrail Shared Assets in Detroit to proto-freelance a model of the Detroit Terminal in the modern era. This post takes a look at the Detroit Terminal Industrial Track, which once formed the eastern end of the real-life DTRR.
Planning for Industries
Whilst we all ponder the corporate identity, I have had to move on with other things. Actually, I still have to get hold of the laser decal sheets I need so I can't go forward on the loco front for now, anyway.
I am in the process of planning for the industries that are to be in the town. This has two aspects.
1. Analyse the freight cars that I have to see if
a) I have the right mix of cars and
b) that I have some industries for them all to serve.
The Diamond River Valley Railroad- Lawrenceville, GA
The is another of the great model railroads of the Dixie Rails group. Great operations and layout design. Built switches in place buy printing Fast Track diagrams and gluing them into place and building on top of them.

Coal Depot
I received a N scale Model Power *Blue Coal Depot* as a gift. I don't know much about this facility and where to use it on my small layout! Would the coal loader have to be used in a mountain area or could it be used in a yard area with other buildings served by rail? Also would the coal be brought in my truck or from a nearby mine shaft? Any help would be appreciated!
Trainmasters Hobby Shop and N S mainline
