Cab Ride on the CWE
Last month, Greg McComas stopped by for a visit. You may know Greg from his posts of his Michigan Interstate Railway. He brought along his GoPro camera and we shot a cab ride on the railroad. The tour starts at the engine facility at Nelsonville on the east end of the modeled portion and wraps up at North Pierce on the west end. Greg was kind enough to post the video on his YouTube channel. Here's a link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlArolLdoXw&t=19s.
The Kanawha & Lake Erie V4
Those of you read the article on John Miller's Kanawha & Lake Erie Railroad in the January 2015 issue of MRH (http://mrhpub.com/2015-01-jan/port2/) may recall that he was planning a move and a new version of the layout. Well, fast forward to April of 2016 and John has made amazing progress. In addition to completing a 60' x 35' pole barn to house the new railroad, he has made incredible progress on the benchwork. Here are few photos of the K&LE 4.0.
Some more Chesapeake, Wheeling & Erie video
Stuart Thayer, his brother Bill and nephew Pete stopped by for a visit last week. Pete was able to catch a few trains on the railroad. Here's a link to his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfDppCTpGsE.
Hope you enjoy!

Here are some shots of Newport Steel on John Miller's Kanawha & Lake Erie Railroad. The facility is huge and runs along two walls of the layout room.
Kanawha & Lake Erie Railroad- Update
UPDATE: For those of you interested in hearing the story behind the K&LE and seeing some great video footage of the layout in operation, it's featured in the September edition of TrainMasters TV. Here's a link to the preview: http://trainmasters.tv/video-player/tmtv-2014-09-act-i-preview. And here's a link to some photos of John's incredible steel mill complex: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/14244.
Some Chesapeake, Wheeling & Erie Video
After seeing the recent thread about posting videos to the forum, I finally bit the bullet and got an HD video camera. I read through the short tutorial the Questions and Answers page under the Help tab on the MRH website and figured out how to embed them into a post. So here goes.
First up, we see COXL 41 (COal EXtra Loads- North Pierce, WV to Hunters Bay, VA) emerging from Logan Tunnel heading east out of Hollister Yard at North Pierce.
And so it begins...
I've been planning to build a 12-track staging yard for some time now, and this past week I finally started the project. The photos below show the before and after.
The First Two Diesels
As I was getting ready to make some significant changes to an old Athearn SD9, I decided to document a little history about this unit and another one on the layout. These are the first two diesels built back around 1980 for my free-lanced railroad.
