Tom Patterson

Last month, Greg McComas stopped by for a visit. You may know Greg from his posts of his Michigan Interstate Railway. He brought along his GoPro camera and we shot a cab ride on the railroad. The tour starts at the engine facility at Nelsonville on the east end of the modeled portion and wraps up at North Pierce on the west end. Greg was kind enough to post the video on his YouTube channel. Here's a link to it:

.

Enjoy the ride, and thanks again, Greg, for the video.

Yes!

I saw/watched that via a FB page I'm a part of. Excellent layout and a good video! You have the makings of a fine layout!

I've taken the liberty of embedding the above video, which is MRH's preferred way of sharing a YouTube video.

Tom!

Great video!  I really enjoyed that ride a lot.  Really nice to see an overview of the whole layout.  Beautiful modeling Tom.  And I didn't notice a single wiggle or bump throughout the trip - a real testament to your excellent track work.

Really great to see you posting here again Tom.  I hope we'll be seeing much more from you.  And thanks to Greg for taking the video!

Quiet down, Joe...

It is a great video of a truly world-class layout. As smooth as the track appears in the video, it is even better in person. I swear his locos  are mag-lev, they seem to just glide above the rails they run so smoothly. And the scenery is magnificent. A really inspiring layout, fun as heck to operate too.

BUT... please stop asking Tom to post more, he is very busy with far more important work right now.  Maybe later, but not now.

Was on TrainMasters TV

some time ago as an interview I remember.

This cab ride is most interesting and fascinating although I suspect there is more to explore that way.

A great model railroad indeed. Operations must be most pleasant.

Thanks for sharing & happy model railroading.

Awesome layout!

An awesome layout!  I was pretending it was the pre-1949 W&LE.

Seeing double red signals almost made me ready to jump out of the cab until I realized they were the backs of the signals.

Great Scenery.

Okay Tom, what's it going to take to get you to keep posting?  I can see that you're being unduly influenced by Mr. Seiler, but he's probably just trying to get you to come to his place and build trees.

Really excellent!

beautiful modeling and an immersive video. I am also impressed by the color quality. Not sure I've ever seen that kind of quality with fluorescent lighting before. You guys knocked it out of the park on this one.

Finally

I get to see inside those tunnels.      It is a beautiful layout and a joy to operate on.

Nicely done!!

Now I see where Randy (Seiler) got his inspiration for "operational enhancements".

Beautiful scenery

an interesting trip. I like the view of the back of the business' along side the track.  Those interested in filming their layout from the engineer's view might consider running the tunnel liners full length( of course that could hinder maintenance  and retrieving derailed equipment so perhaps removable liners could be devised?)....DaveB

Trees?

That's crazy talk, Joe. Me asking Tom to work on trees?  Why would I do that? I mean, really. If Tom worked on trees then what would we do with all the trees that Merlyn is working on? Don't be silly. Tom doesn't have time to work on trees for me. What's he gonna do? Work on trees between fixing my locomotives? That's just crazy.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the kind comments. The railroad has been a labor of love for almost 30 years now.

Joe- I am 1/2 of the Motive Power Division for Randy's B&O/PC Cincinnati West. The Mechanical Department (me) is stripping all of the locos, cleaning everything, re-lubing, and then re-assembling them. They are then delivered to the Electrical Department (Gerry Albers) for installation of decoders and speakers and basic programming. It was either this or work on trees for Randy, and I've just about had my fill of trees...

Tom's Pest Control?

Good to hear Tom.  Do your patients include Randy's zinc pest victims as well?

My patients...

Yeah, Tom, tell Joe about how you, um, took care of those patients.
