Question on MRH forum links

I noticed this morning that, immediately after I add a new reply here, the link that appears above the reply includes the text "?page=<page number>" immediately before the "#comment-<comment number>".  If I then copy that into another browser session, it takes me directly to that particular comment.

Upgrading our ad server - ads temporarily turned off

We're upgrading our ad server, so for the next day or two, website banner ads may get turned off for a time.

Any intermittent presentation of ads will become consistent again once we've completed the upgrade of our ad server.

Never works

How come when I try to change my email address it won't allow me to use a gmail account? I have tried multiple times and it won't allow me to change it. What gives?

How many countries

are represented on the MRH forum?  Australia, Belgium/Brasil, Canada...I lost count away back, but the number must be getting up there.

SPAM!

I've been marking spam right and left today.  Every one of the posts has originated from a user name containing "cialis" or "viagra," and one of those two words has been contained in the text as well.  Isn't there a way the forum platform can be set to automatically flag any user name with either of those words and/or any text with them, thus placing the user or post in a queue for review?  The problem could also be largely contained if every first post from a new user required moderator approval.

MRH Website availablity

The MRH website is hosted at a facility in Manhattan, which, as has been widely broadcast, just got hit by "Superstorm Sandy." As a result, there are a lot of fiber cuts, a lot of flooded basements, and a very uncertain power situation.

As we understand it, the first outage on Monday night/Tuesday morning was caused by a the failure of a fuel tank pump when the basement it was in was flooded.

The outage today was caused by two other facilities experiencing problems that effectively cut our hosting facility off.

There may be additional outages - all of these facilities are currently on generator power as ConEd both waits for the water to recede and then dries out their salt-water soaked substations and transformers.

The good news is that the facilities hosting the actual magazine itself have not gone down - you can still use these links to access or download MRH itself:

Read the October issue ONLINE
(read online)

Our PDF download host is also stil up and can be accessed with these links:
Direct access to the October issue PDF version - primary
(PDF download - primary host)

Direct access to the October issue PDF version - mirror backup
(PDF download - backup mirror host)

We also recommend "Liking" our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/mrhmag for upated information when the website goes down as well as other information and links we may post there.

In the meantime we remain grateful for your support and ask that you keep those people affected by Sandy on the East Coast of the United States, Canada, Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuba in your thoughts.

Thank you.

Kindle Fire HD and MRH forum issues.

My Kindle Fire HD is trying to keep me from posting these issues with MRH. I just got kicked out right at the moment to submit! So, I have to post this again.

YouTube Videos.  I am hoping JoeF can verify this. Railbox306 post a video showing his NS diesel and two tank cars running on his lightweight modules.  That displays just fine.  Art Houston post a video of the St. Louis Gateway N scale op. That is not okay. What I see, it a big gray block with a puzzle piece in the center. A broken link? I know it is okay on my laptop.

dropped login

Is anyone else getting dropped more frequently than usual?  My login seems to get dropped every few hours, often when I switch from one thread to another.  It's been happening for the last week or so and is becoming quite frustrating.
