Improvements to the Recent posts list

Hello

I have been a MRH follower since the very beginning, and is just missing one possibility as I look at the Recent posts list:

A check box at each thread, telling me that this is an interesting thread, that I want to get beck to later and read more. This would have been a nice addition!

Anyone else missing such an option?

So MRH, is this possible?

Abuse of the spam link on posts

Just a reminder that the spam link is NOT to be used to throttle other subscribers you may disagree with.

Continued use of the spam button to remove other posts just because you don't happen to appreciate what they are saying can result in you getting disciplined by the MRH staff.

No "tools" section?

I just noticed something.  When I went to post the video about the handheld CNC router, there is no logical place to put a thread about tools.  Given the fact that sometimes it's useful to talk about tools outside of a specific model application, maybe it would be a handy organizational tool?  I'm thinking of the CNC router, soldering station, and laser cutter threads as recent examples.

Is the recent thread on DCC uncouplers shut down or just "full up"?

Clearly it got silly and personal, but I was wondering if there was a limit to the number of posts a thread can hold?

Slight Improvement Suggestion to the Forum Pages Format?

Now that we have so many forum postings that go on for several pages, I find that I always have to scroll to the BOTTOM of the first page, to get a link to the latest last page. The topic always opens at the first page.

Would it be a good idea to DUPLICATE the inter-page links at the TOP of each page as well as the BOTTOM? I don't think it would be a big job to make as a global change.

Making Invites to join MRH

We had a forum going about selling MRH on eBay to get more members joining, but I couldn't find it.  So, I started this new forum on how to go about getting more members and vendors involved in MRH.  I have been inviting those individuals I have contact with outside of MRH who are in the business for or are just folks involved in model railroading.  What I am doing is forwarding the weekly notice with my invitation.

Around the world members? Joe?

Joe,

I was having a discussion about MRH with an acquaintance.  I mentioned that we have members from around the world.  I was curious if you have a way of tracking that information?  It could help in getting new sponsors.

MRH forum ettiquite - a little negative goes a long way

Every so often, we will post reminders to our audience of what's expected of you when you post here on the MRH website.

When posting something negative, a little bit goes a long way.

And above all else, refrain from getting personal. Posts like "John, you just don't have a clue" not only will make John mad at you and want to retaliate in a post, it also will likely cause others to start discounting your posts.

Here's a comment on this subject:

Sorry for the noise on Recent posts

AzBaja's blog posts got marked as spam by an overzealous moderator, so we've brought them back.

Sorry for the Recent Posts noise, but marking posts as spam is not to be used to muzzle other subscribers whose posts you may disagree with. Marking content as spam is only for removing garbage posts made by non-modelers - or by MRH staff to remove truly offensive or inflammatory posts.
