MRH website logouts and best practices

Got this post on a thread the other day ...

A mini-rant: Wish to goodness this fool software would at least WARN you that you must be logged-in when you hit "Submit" to post a reply for those times the software automatically LOGGED YOU OUT as you were typing the reply!!! Why does it have to routinely log us OUT???

We were asked why this site might log you out -- so the next post says why. And we also give you some simple best practices so this will never trouble you again.

Copying one page of running

I subscribe to running extra.  I want to download just one article.  Is that possible?

Even when I download the whole issue and try to select and copy one page I can't do it?  Is there some sort of editing control that prevents this?

Problem with Media

If I upload a jpg media item to a thread and size it at 750 width when the actual is 1600, if you hover over the item in the completed post, you can select it with the hand symbol and if clicked will open in larger size and the icon will show a "+" sign and can magnify it even more.

If I select an image from the library of images, size it to 750 width when actual is 1600, if you hover over the item, the cursor remains an arrow and it will not allow the select or magnification.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just how the site works???

We need your help: Get your hobby shop listed!

MRH has a hobby shop listing, but it's very incomplete:
https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/hobbyshops

With your help, we can get this list to be more comprehensive!

If your favorite hobby shop is not listed, then just post their details below. We need:

Shop Name
Shop address
Shop phone
Shop URL (if they have a website)

For foreign shops, also give us the country.

Let's get the MRH Hobby shop listing to be the best one going!

One thing you like about MRH

'Tis the season!

A lot of negativity can easily be found, and it is the time of year when we should attempt to be a little more neighborly in our physical and online neighborhoods...

I wanted to start a positive thread..... Its quite simple, tell us one thing you enjoy about the MRH forum, or magazine, or TMTV....

I only ask one thing, just post a positive comment and do not critique or counter what anybody else has to say.

Changing Major Directions from my Current Layout to a New One

I started a blog in 2017 to document the creation of my Z scale Alpine layout (all Marklin locos and rolling stock with mixed products for just about everything else). You can see my posts at the end of this page.

I went with Z scale because I wanted to make the most of a layout in a limited space and I had bought some Marklin Z rolling stock, locos and track many years ago for "the day" I would start a layout.

DCC controllers

Hello Fellow Modelers,

I'm a rather older individual that is NOT as much as I would like, to be, computer wise. I  can do a few things well but I'm lost as far as as the new technology is concerned. ( IE. JMRI  etc.)

Is there not a user friendly DCC system that has just has the basic system covered to make a hobby less complicated and expensive? I do not need to change my locos sound on the main line or listen to coupler clank.

The Last Time Southern Pacific Used EMD SW-1200 Locomotives And Cabooses

To all railroad historians and Southern Pacific Railroad(SP) fans: When was the last time the Espee used EMD SW-1200 locomotives(switchers) for duty? When was the last time the Espee used cabooses for duty?

To xboblove

Totally overrunning this site with a bazillion threads and posts is not okay.

You need to talk to us first before monopolizing our website.

You have been put on moderation and your threads are being unpublished pending a discussion with us first.

If you're using this site to do mass promotion that's advertising and it's not free, either.
