'Tis the season!

A lot of negativity can easily be found, and it is the time of year when we should attempt to be a little more neighborly in our physical and online neighborhoods...

I wanted to start a positive thread..... Its quite simple, tell us one thing you enjoy about the MRH forum, or magazine, or TMTV....

I only ask one thing, just post a positive comment and do not critique or counter what anybody else has to say.

oh and no, I do not work for MRH nor have I ever interacted with Joe F.

Think before you post, try to be positive, and you do not always have to give your  opinion……

I really enjoy how the MRH forum has allowed me to interact with some of the hobbies great modelers.

I agree and....

I agree with you, nice to meet good modelers fellows, and exchange some point of view or "how to " techniques.

About the magazine itself, I'm sixty, so all this virtual stuff seems sometime difficult to use and you know...in fact so easy, I like the way to go from an article and able to follow a link or take a look at an advertissement with just a "click"

And for the famous "poor eyes",  nice to click on the pictures to see a bigger one with a real HD definition.

The concept is excellent and I enjoy to read it each month, like following the forum and blog open on the site.

Waiting for the next issue, really !   Thank you Joe.

This forum and the folks on

This forum and the folks on it. I will also add the magazines both free and paid versions, they are both much better than the other magazines I would say cover my aspect of the hobby. There is also the cost factor at a subscription rate about 1/2 of the print magazines for one and one free they are the best bargain to be found in the hobby.

Great idea for a thread Bessemer Bob.

The forums...

...brought me here. Lots of dissenting opinions therein... BUT... (and this is important and very much a positive)... all persuasions run to your aid when you post a question or need help.

Too bad for them, though, 'cause I think I'm gonna' go ahead and hang out here. Thus, their virtual property values have just tanked.

I have to pick ONE Thing?!?

Ok, and this is just one of the things I like about MRH -

I like the way many of the articles go to such depth in how they cover the topic. Makes it easy to understand when every step in a process is detailed out.

One thing is not easy....

In depth articles is the best, but the forums and editor content  also important.

The generosity of forum participants

So many active modelers from all over the world making the effort to share what they're doing. I especially value the low-key informality of the forum: it encourages us to describe anything and everything without the primping and varnish expected of fully edited published content. I get to experience and benefit from the textured foibles as well as the shining triumphs of the everyday craft endeavors of both like-minded and stimulatingly unlike-minded individual personalities. I love it.

Forums

Absolutely are great. You can ask some very obscure questions and just about always get an answer within 24 hrs.

Then you can find out stuff that you never even thought to ask like the question about 1950's driveways.

The people

It's the people, Joe Fugate, Geoff Bunza, Jeff Schultz, Charlie Comstock, Bruce Petrarca, and all of the folks that are involved in MRH, RE, TMTV and off course all the nice folks that make up the forum!

My thanks to all of you for your contributions.

Knowledge Base

The forum.  Like Jack said, you can ask a question and get an answer through the forum, usually right away.  Invaluable resource. And usually "flaming people" is kept to a minimum - very civilized.

Peace on earth, no war, no poverty and goodwill to all

Hold it.......I think that is my Miss America acceptance speech.

I like that on the forum we don't take ourselves so seriously that the hobby becomes a chore instead of the joy that it is meant to be.

What I like about MRH

The magazine contains detailed information on a variety of model railroad related topics that exceeds anything regularly available in a printed magazine. The forum can be enjoyed throughout the month, and is constantly being added to and updated.

One each:

MRH: The articles are well written, and well documented... I love all of the photos that go with everything, and the high quality of the magazine.

Forums: I have met a lot of new people here that are awesome. I don't know a lot of folks in real life that are into this hobby (I'm a bit stand offish in person) but folks here are welcoming, and great.

TMTV: The production quality is amazing! I mean, sure, a few segments feel like an Tsunami advertisement, or a Lok Sound blurb, but they are still somewhat useful (and I guess I wouldn't complain if they were Digitrax sound decoder demonstrations, or something related to getting the most out of a "Sound Value" decoder) however, as a whole, well worth the money. (if only it were two episodes a week!)

So that's something I love about each.

Not quite...

I should say more... so let me say this... the combination of all three... were it not for MRH, the forums, and TMTV, I probably wouldn't have my layout right now. Before discovering the MRH Universe, I was collecting trains, and building buildings for the layout that I will have "some day", and after discovering the MRH Universe, I realized I HAD a place for my layout... and I could build it easily enough... and make it so I can save it if I ever move. I was inspired, by all three, to find unrealized real estate. the top of my desk, bookshelves, and a couple of walls... space that was doing nothing, and is now a miniature world of rains.

Educational and entertainment value

Whether the magazine, forums or TMTV, I greatly enjoy the generosity of all members or contributors who so freely share information about what works and what doesn’t.  I’m building my first layout in years and would not be as successful without MRH.
