Modeling general discussion

Something you don't see often

Well, for as often as you seen Civil War era modeling, at least.

Anyway, there are several railroad photos in this but look for the huge windmill used for pumping water for the water tank.

Christmas Tree Train Project

Hello!

I'm looking for some advice on my elevated train project.

I haven't had a train since I was a kid (and that was awhile ago) so I know nothing about building layouts.

I recently purchased the Lionel Polar Express Remote Train Set - O-Gauge, and an additional Lionel - FasTrack - Straight Track - 4 Pack so this gives me eight curved 0-36 FasTrack sections, seven 10" straight FasTrack sections, one 10" FasTrack wall-pack terminal section in total.

Verne Niner - RIP

I read on another forum that Verne Niner passed away from a heart attack on Wednesday 11-18. Here is the information:

His detailing was an inspiration to me even though our eras were 75 years apart.

Item Values?

Here are some various items from my Grandpas Dads collection. Any ideas what any of it is worth? More info is by each image/set of images.

Inside the iPhone 4s speaker

I suffered my first iPhone 4s speaker failure today.

So after I replaced the speaker, I opened it up for everyone to see.

The arrow indicates the sound port opening.

Cheers!

CN fouling point markers

Hi all,

I've been reading about fouling point markers, which were not something that i've come across before. They seem like a simple, realistic thing to add to my HO layout.

What im wondering is if anyone knows what the CN prototype does to indicate fouling points. Some images that i've seen on the internet show ties painted in yellow. Others have yellow marks on the side of the rails (in the UK i believe we do this, but with white paint). Others have a marker post or a board on the track that is striped.
