Paris, FR - Clubs or layouts

I'll be in Paris all next week. Are there clubs or layouts in central Paris that are "must see"? I'm staying in the 6th Arr., but can travel. Thanks in advance.

Flat storage boxes

I need to get more of the big flat cardboard storage boxes for storing HO trains--but I can't find them on Walther's or Caboose Hobbies website--typiong "storage" and I get zillions of model storage facilities.  What should I look them up under--need the item so I can have Colonial order them.

Thanks!

Bench work redo

Got to laying out some track in the yard the other day and kept running into the backdrop.

This area is 5' wide with access on three sides so reaching in is not a problem.   The problem was that the narrow part was 2' deep and wanted town space, but don't really like flats against a wall and didn't really have room for a good scenery transition.

Computer DCC

This is probably a stupid question.

As I mentioned elsewhere I recently fried my poor Digitrax Zephyr. So, I'm looking for a replacement. One compatible with the Digitrax decoders I've already installed in several locomotives. And one that is not too expensive!

Here's an nice article about a local guy who puts up a big Halloween-themed model railroad display every year:

Repair of car steps

I have a number of boxcars with the bottom step broken off.  How do you repair or replace these steps? What material to use? Is there a how to video that shows this? Thanks in Advance

layout size and hobby enjoyment

My idea of a layout size is bigger is better, but now back to reality. After almost 50 years of marriage and dating my wife wanted a divorce, which  destroyed my plans of retiring and improving my 24 by 36 foot layout. My layout wasn't ideal and some what neglected while I built a career that involved a lot of travel, raising two children, putting them through college. This layout was all built with friends while we were young.  My plans were to rebuild parts of it and enjoy it.

Old School Soundtraxx Sound

When I was much younger growing up in San Diego, it was pretty common to hear Soundtraxx DSD decoders roaming around layouts. When I was 6 years old, my father joined the La Mesa club in San Diego and I started running trains there, it used to be quite a thrill to get an engine that had sound onboard. I loved the 3 chime horn sound file and bell that the DSD's had on them, and I always wanted to equip one of my engines with one.

Our latest video - Water, a quick and easy method!

I thought some might enjoy our latest video - Model Railroad Water - Quick and Easy.
Although this is one of many, many ways to create believable water scenes, this is a tried and
true method that anyone of any experience level can do in quick fashion.

Obviously, we can't do everything in a single video, so in this, we are creating one that is very simple.
With easy to find and easy to use materials, we are retro-fitting the layout with a small dock scene featuring a shallow and slow moving stream.

Enjoy and Happy Halloween, Joey Ricard
