Modeling general discussion
Finally set up to model again
My first six months on this contract I didn't have any of my modeling supplies or projects. After a trip home I returned with a whole suitcase of tools, supplies and several freight car projects.
Myth Busted?
Was the Model RR Myth's thread flagged for spam? I was enjoying it and it vanished on me.

Another year...
Last time, as you recall, Dr. Smith, Will and the Robot...
Ooops. Wrong forum!
Another year and another chainsaw layout bites the dust!

Post em if you got em!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

need some ideas on deadning the sound of my layout
ok so i have an ho scale layout thats on a piece of Extruded Polystyrene Insulation Foam Board right now the foam board sits on a standard plastic folding table that the misses picked up from target. the layout sits in the corner of the room and the misses says it makes alot of noise since its up against the wall but sue to space restrictions i cant remove it from the wall.

Model RR Myth
After reading the thread about the Tyco -430 I started this one in regard to some opinions which arise from it.This thread is about what I would categorized as "Model RR Myth". I found the following the longest lived "Myth" on-line (web).
(1) You are not a true modelers if you do not "scratchbuilding-is-the-only-way-to-go" (as someone said)
(2) The hobby is dying

Video -Model Railroad Inspirations - A quick look at Howard Zane's 2800 sq ft layout.
I thought some might enjoy a quick look at Howard Zane's massive HO Scale Piermont Division layout.
He has always been an inspiration to myself and others. This of course is a collection of video clips put together after the visit, but I hope some that have never seen his layout can enjoy the overview tour.
Thanks, Joey

Christmas tree project
My last train setup was when I was about 12 years old. I'm now 58 and somehow got this wild hair that it would be really cool for my grandkids (and myself) to do an around the Christmas tree layout. My goal would be to start very simple; possibly nothing more than an oval enhanced by some of my wife's Victorian buildings. I would like to have the layout on a partial sheet of plywood and just be able to tuck it away until each Christmas rolls around. My question is this...what the heck are the logistics of setting up and decorating a seven foot artificial tree
