Modeling general discussion

Weekly Photo Fun - October 16th to October 22th, 2015

Great photos last week, let's have some more...:)

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Mining puzzle

I've come to that point where the first operating session is imminent now that the mainline has reached about the halfway mark on my HOn3 pike.  (see track plan)

I model the SP narrow gauge in 1911 and the freelance Horseshoe & Cottonwood based loosely on the Bodie & Benton.  Silver and gold mining are one of the key industries along the line.

Finding stuff--great resource

I have constantly found the Model Railroad Hobbyist advertisers section to be incredibly useful for finding places to get my hands on all sorts of things--they also have helped me find things I didn't know existed, or reminded me of companies I hadn't seen in a bit--useful resource.

CSX at CLT?

Anybody know the history / rationale behind the CSX (?) intermodal yard in the middle of Charlotte NC airport?  Struck me as odd to taxi over a yard lead to the terminal.

[video] Amazing train show in europe

Hello all !

Last Week end takes place a very nice internationnal train show at Sedan in france : The RAMMA.

The level was very hight, and there was a lot of variety of prototype and scales.

At the end you will see some of the best US model railways in the show (On30, HOn3, HOn2 1/2, N scales).

Hope you will enjoy the video :

Finding a Buddy or Starting a Round Robin

Seeing Peter's post in the Paying for Help topic fired up this idea.

Is there enough interest to start this as an ongoing topic that anyone can post in to find a buddy or finding or starting a round robin group? I know for myself I would prefer a small group of around 4 people. The local club has a lot more than that and is just a bit to formal for my tastes.

My latest visit to the Georgetown & Allen Mountain RR

It's always a pleasure to visit Michael and the Mrs. to chat, enjoy refreshments, and of course see his layout.  Today the wife and I made the one hour trek and had a wonderful time.  I didn't take any pictures of the layout that are better than what Michael has been posting; however, I did get a couple of shots worth posting.
