Modeling general discussion

Is O Scale Dying?

So this question was inspired a bit by the thread "Is Model Railroading Dying" and some of my observations of late.  I don't know the percentage of O scalers on this board and I do know there are some O specific sites, but nonetheless I'll throw this out there.  And while I don't model O, I've been around it for 25+ years with family members who do, so maybe I know enough to be dangerous.  Anyway here's the thesis:

Wow - We're "Slow-Motion Multi-Tasking!"

I thought having a bunch of unfinished projects was an organizational problem.  I learned from this Ted Talk that all this time I was just being incredibly creative and "slow-motion multitasking."

You just gotta love Ted Talks - some of the highest class BS out there.

10yrs and I still have no idea how to remove a MTH SD70ACe or Dash 9 shell. Yup, true.

I just wanted to share that info. I have tried to multiple times but I have yet to ever succesfully remove the shell from any MTH SD70ACE and now the a MTH Dash 9.  Thats crazy but true.  I need to add some Monster LEDs to these units now. I am sure I could use the same platform I often post on, Youtube, to find a video that shows me how to remove it but I basically just wanted to share this. I have all this model railroading knowledge but cant remove a shell of a MTH engine.  LMAO.

How to Remove Shell from a BLI 2-8-2?

How do I remove the shell of a BLI 2-8-2?

Why do I need o do this?  Because this loco periodically shorts, stops dead and the power supply indicator turns red (indicating a short).  The short occurs at random locations (straight track or curves or turnouts), and for the most part at different locations with each lap around the layout.

MRH/Running Extra questions

Is the MRH free magazine included in my RE downloads? I believe it now is but wasn't always. If they are a combined download then when did that start? I'm doing some PC housekeeping and trying to get my DL's organized!

Including unpredictable events in operations sessions

Ops seems to be very appealing for many of us; they go from simple one to even more complicated.

I' m working on a schematic of operations with trains schedule for my future extention of my Maclau River RR

I love ops ( not too complicated and I'm not a rivet counter of the organisation of ops; I don't ask to go to far too)

Real railroad company have time to time some trouble when they operate train on their line

What's on your workbench? February 2020

January was a rough month to start the year off with and I'm ready for work this month, albeit a few hours early. That extra day on the end will certainly make a difference! Let's see what you've got.

3D Printing and Thank You

A really big thank you to all of the folks on this forum who bore with me while I struggled getting going with resin printing. Especially to K-Pack who gave me the tip that ultimately led to success (90 second base layers) and to barr_ceo for starting the thread that led to that discussion. I hope you are enjoying your printer.
