Modeling general discussion

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.
Precision alignment dowels/pins
I am looking for suggestions for precision machined alignment dowels for joining modules together. The modules in question have multiple tracks and I’ve been having issues with accurate alignment over time. I’ve tried a few ad hoc solutions, some better than others, but most have not met my expectations.

Less than 3 weeks left - Crowd funding the production of model railroad products - HO box and auto cars
I don't think I've seen anyone try to use crowdfunding to raise the capital needed to bring a model railroad product to market, but here is an example.
Prototype Junction. a new company, is raising funds to tool an assortment of HO scale Pratt-truss single-sheathed box and auto cars. These plastic cars would be available RTR and as kits. Parts would be made available also.
Here's the link if you want to learn more about what they are doing and why:
Displaying paint and old turntables
I got tired of not being able to see what color of paint I wanted to use so I took all of my bottles of paint off of 2 turntables and spread them out on my workbench. I can't leave them there and I'd like to repurpose the turntables. Any ideas on how to store the paint bottles so they're out of the way but readily handy and visible? Any ideas on how to repurpose single and double stack turntables?
Ideas for a new workbench area
Now that my layout construction is well underway I've realized that I have a lot of "stuff" in boxes in the train room, stuff that used to live on my workbench at my old house. Since the weather isn't going to be the best this weekend it may be a good chance to build my new workbench. I've got about a 4ft long space in the basement that I can easily clear out to build a new workbench but I've trying to decide how to organize it.

Attachment will not enlarge for viewing
I downloaded my layout plan to the Layout Plan Database thread a few days ago. It was drawn originally in Auto-CAD, exported to a PDF, then converted to a jpeg for downloading to the server. It imported into the posting no problem, but when the track plan is clicked on to enlarge for viewing, it literally does nothing. It enlarges maybe 2%, but that's it. I tried opening it in anther tab as I know this has worked for other items in the past, but it does not for this particular posting.

Check your models. The foam in the box can attack the model.
I saw this last Friday night at the Elmhurst swap.
This is a public service announcement for anyone that have locos or cars in boxes with foam packing. Make sure the item is wrapped in plastic. The foam in the box disintegrated and attacked the finish on this brass Burlington Zephyr. The nickel plating will probably have to be stripped off. Any paint or decals are ruined. The model may not be salvageable.
Please check your models.

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em. There were a few late-comers in last week's post. Check them out, then come back here afterward.
Ground lights and step lights. (Renamed!)
Even though my workbench is currently the dining table in the motorhome work continues.
I’ve been busy making working ground lights and step lights. The current approaches to these lights up until now may well be vastly improved by using these ready to install or basic kit fixtures.
