Modeling general discussion

I finally started my new layout, my Monster Railroad, SoCal Desert Rail Division 2
The day after my birthday(Feb.17th), I started building my layout. It is exciting too. Here I go, I am on fire.
Here is the video
Scale model layout cars
From 1945 to 1955 Lee Stokes Industries, located in new Oxford PA and later in Bel Air 2nd designed and manufactured scale model plaster cars with paint for train layouts. At their height, they were producing 5,000 cars weekly. I have seen some of these on eBay.Ihave the original molds and kits. Can anyone tell me if there is any interest in these?

Has anyone used an HO Coupler Assembly Fixture from Micro Mark?
This seems like a good idea, especially after assembling and attaching many, many Kadee coupler boxes.
Anyone have actual experience with it? Not too expensive at $7.50 from Micro Mark. Woud not hold the semi-scale 158 but I could add a soft shim.

Does anyone know if 3rd Planit ever runs discount sales?
I am thinking about buying 3rd Planit and wanted to know if they ever have sales on the software like other programs like SCARM do?

Rivets on locos
I am starting to acquire streamline era diesels in DC and am willing to kitbash them to the highest detail available but have been wondering about all the rivets on the shells. Aren't these huge compared to the prototype, and did in fact these bodies have exposed fasteners? most photos don't show that level of detail

Materials to use for modeling a large passenger concourse in HO
I'm planning on scratch-building a model of a passenger concourse in HO, and I'm wondering the what is the best material to use- styrene, wood, foam core or something else or a combination of those. The original concourse was concrete steel reinforced and the model will measure about 35" long and 6" wide. It was a tall single story (12') with a clerestory down the center . The tracks stub-ended at the concourse (concrete bumpers) and platforms with butterfly sheds extended out from the concourse between tracks.
3D printer resolution- is 0.1mm fine enough?
Hi all, I've recently stumbled on a combined 3D printer/engraver/cnc machine:

Weekly Photo Fun - Feb 16-22, 2020
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.

early tofc brake wheels
I am starting to kit-bash Tichy flats into early circus loading tofc. Most pictures of models have a brake wheel sticking up about 4 feet in the way of the truck driving across the ramps. I am having a hard time finding pictures of a converted flat or box car that had the brake wheel relocated somewhere. Also on some newer 89 foot cars there is a post on the side, near one end, that has the chain connected to it but no wheel. Is that some sort of lever that actuates the parking brake linkage?
