How Stock Market Crashes Might Affect Future Model Train Purchases, (warning, evolved into many virus discussions)

We've seen some pretty radical downgrades in the stock market these past few days.

Just wondering how it might effect our hobby buying habits, etc

Addendum:
I tried to keep the conversation focused on how the stock market might affect out model train hobby,...but of course we have the flu situation that is driving the market, so lots of flu discussions.

Weathering

How long would it take a hopper car operated in seasonal climates like upper Midwest to accumulate weathering like on the attached ERES hopper.  Modeling the 2002-2005 time frame, I am afraid I am overdoing it.  Also, I am fully rusting the roofs of outside braced 50 foot boxcars.  Is this too much.   RR Picture Archives is not much help, most photo's are a much late era.

Modeling supply PSA

Just a heads up with the current events worldwide there is a rush to gobble up rubbing alcohol.  If your modeling supply is running low and plan on doing some ballast work or stripping some cars you may want to build up your stash

Now back to your regular threads..........

I need your help

Folks,

I need your help. I am working on a column and need photos for it. In particular I need photos taken in Lorain, Ohio of the B&O/Chessie/CSX any year from 1880 to present. Old, modern, in between, I need it all. The photos may be of locomotives and trains but I really need photos showing the railroad and customers that it served. Anything showing the B&O Lorain roundhouse would be very welcome.

If you can send me photos or info on where I can get them I will appreciate it. Send them to jamessixrr@gmail.com

Thanks,

Jim Six

A bit of history, yes I'm proud of it, Walschaerts and Belpaire

Even if I live now in Québec I'm Belgian coming from one of the smallest country in the world.

Belgiun is  well know trough the whole world for the quality of his engineering.

We have enginered a lot of big metalic construction in the whole world like bridge, structural structures and we were the first European country with a train line in continental Europe (except England), this was already in 1835 between Brussels and Malines, two town separated by 30 km.
