Modeling general discussion
Compact Work Stations / tray modelling / and Temporary set ups.
Thought i would start a discussion on compact work stations.
As we all begin to spend more time inside im faced with the fact that my office / modiling station is now being used for my partners study as classes and lectures have moved online and my other possible work site is now my work station as i hav transition to working from home.
This leaves me with the lack of a worksite / workbench.
Im thinking this weekend will be making a Tv work station / tray like an onld Tea tray to continue some form of modeling through the coming weeks.
I have an idea, need help and input!!!
Now, this may not be a new idea, and I apologize if I’m stepping on someone else’s idea. In these times of social isolation, let’s have a collective operation session between all of our model railroads, no matter the era, real or fictional, any country, any equipment, passenger and/or freight. Your railroad can be complete or just a drawing on paper or computer. All scales welcome. As long as your railroad ships and receives goods or people, you can participate. I think that includes everyone.
Prototype modeling opportunity
This is the NS 6140. The engine access doors fell off a few days ago for really no good reason(all the hinge welds detached). The whole body section beyond the clean air room shifted backwards, but that’s another story. Here is an opportunity to model this unit with the prime mover exposed.
Trainmasters STAY SAFE special offer?
Maybe I'm being over cynical or cautious, And I've certainly got too much time on my hands, but, along with the vast majority of railway modellers, I also belong squarely in the "vulnerable" sector of society, We must all be careful that our vulnerability does not expose us to viral or indeed financial attack. There are many out there that will exploit the crises given the opportunity.

Once upon a time it was steam locomotives, after comes diesel,
By these uncertain future and all the threads about it, where nobody has the answer, there is another one.
During around more than a century steam was the power to use to move trains.
Because of WW II the replacement of steam by diesel was delayed a bit.
Since around 70 years diesel power is king of the road.
In early 2000 basic diesel evoluted with low emission motors; some companies are still changing motors for the least generation of low emission diesel motor.
Dremel 7300 Woes
Folks,
Looking for your opinions on the best Dremel-type (other brands too) cordless, small motor tool.
Paint wash. How thick or thin?
This sounds like a dumb question, but what's the proper ratio of water to paint to make a nice wash that does what its supposed to without covering what's underneath. I have tried a few washes but just seems like I have too much water. Help!
Modern steel and concrete highway bridges
So, last week I had gotten the itch to build a unique highway overpass. I may be in too deep, but onward I press. Not only have I chosen a modern steel girder and concrete bridge type, but I also chose a 4 lane split median design. Oh and did I mention, it will be on an slight gradient and a mild curve? Well, as most of you know, I love to torture myself with detail and exact scale stuff. So, yesterday we began this adventure. Spent most of the day researching modern steel bridge construction.

Weekly Photo Fun - Mar 15-21, 2020
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.
Finished my very first model railroad project (almost 40yrs later)
It's not that I've never finished anything before but this was the very first model railroad thing I bought. I was 11 and had recently discovered model railroading by reading encyclopedias after school. In the QR volume was a section on railroads and then one on model railroading, a hobby I didn't know existed. We had just moved to a town with a hobby shop and I had also just read a book about building the transcontinental railroad. I mentioned to the shop owner I thought it was a fascinating story.
