NCE Smart Booster SB5

I instantly jumped in and purchased the NCE starter set. Thinking I know what I’m doing, I jumped and grabbed the NCE smart booster, the SB5. I quickly learned that it already “replaces” the PCP panel that comes with the starter set.

The panel that came with the booster clearly has 2 ports for cabs. Can I hook up both a flat cable and coil cable cab into those ports respectively?

Kadee uncoupler magnets

Do you mount the kadee uncoupler magnets on top of the ties or do you need to remove the ties?

Installing SOUND

I have a dcc equipped EMD SD9 in n scale.

Can I add sound to that? Can I do it, or must I send it to a shop? Finally, where might that be? Otherwise, I’m okay with trying to install one, you know, for practice.

Any details,would be mighty helpful.

Baggage boxcar weathering project

I managed to find the prototype of this car,

but it was in black and white so I had to guess how it was weathered. I did notice though its griminess was consistent across the sides.

I masked the car; prepping it to be airbrushed with a filter.

Getting back to work on the layout

I have not worked on anything in almost a year but hope to get back to it soon. I did get the work bench cleaned off so I can get started again.

Below is a link for a video of the last area completed on the layout almost 2 years ago. I did start a couple of old kits last year and will finish those first along with a patch job on a transfer caboose.

Salt weathering a roof; my first time.

I finally decided to embark on salt weathering after I saw the roof tops of Yannis' salt weathered roofs on his box cars.

With his guidance I was able to accomplish the look I wanted for this car,

but before starting on the roof I weathered the sides and added details to make it suitable for my 1974 era collection.

Love 3D printing

I just love 3d printing. I finally learned the software enough to make some items for the railroad. Here are some welded oil tanks for your thoughts.

Official Railway Equipment Register (ORER) 1930

Greetings all, I hope you are getting stuff done like I am during these trying times.

I am looking for a scanned page from the 1930 ORER. 1928 or any other close book will do also. The page I would like to have is for the Mississippi Central which is normally a single page below or under Illinois Central.

Can anyone help me out? I found one online for 1913 and it was a big help but would like to compare it to the later book.

Thanks in advance!
