It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were a few late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

Freight Cars Travel Far.....

A few of us forum members at The Weathering Shop/The Rust Bucket have elected to send some of our rolling stock to each other for photography in various settings. So far, these cars have been in 2 locations in California and 1 in Nevada. They'll be headed to Ohio soon, for more pics before being on display at the St Louis RPM in July.

The boxcar on the left is from Steve (ModelTruckShop) in Ohio and the boxcar on the right is from Tezz (Terence510) in Australia. The pics are on my diorama in Southern Nevada (Las Vegas)

This one, the boxcar on the left is from tommo in United Kingdom and the boxcar on the right is from Scotty in Southern California.

This cool little hopper in the middle is from tp in California and the hopper on the left is Steve (ModelTruckShop) in Ohio and the boxcar on the right is mine.

Great shots Terry

They all  look great in that Vegas sun.  A fun way for us to all check out each others projects and a way for our freight cars to log a bunch of miles just like the real thing.   Nice work everyone, thanks for sharing those terry!

Another week

I tried to recreate a scene from a photo I saw on the Frisco.org site.   Here you go...…… the 1:1 shot and my attempt at it.

@Bob T.

I love what you’re doing on your layout. Are you going to run any of those Frisco mixed trains?

Another great week. Good work by everyone.

Thanks Chris, Steve,

Thanks guys for the notes.   Agreed, great stuff already this week.   MG, love that scene.   Reminds me to get on the structure kits.

Chris, yes, I have been trying to letter up a combine and build a old-timey coach for use on the layout.   The combine just needs some lettering at this point.

Take care all,

Daily Except Sunday

The station agent and his dog flags the Hillsboro motor car at McIntosh. This doodlebug is all that is needed to handle mail, LCL — and even the occasional passenger — to the small stops along the NAPM coal mining district. Officially known as train No. 70/71 on the timetable, the locals call it The 'Mule' because it carries _everything_ and travels at a slow pace.

Photo by Mark Mathu on the North American Prototype Modelers HO scale layout in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The scene was lit with a hand-held flashlight. The Bachmann model belongs to NAPM member Bob Zoeller.

Steve, I love the B&W.  Really nice job recreating the prototype shot.

Kevin, great mill shots.  What an impressive facility!

Greg, your pier shot is beautiful!

MG, excellent dockside pic.  Especially nice work on the grass.

I managed to make some progress this weekend patching and weathering a few IAIS locomotives that were being put out to pasture during my May 2005 era following the arrival of their GP38-2 and SD38-2 replacements. These models will spend most of their time tied down here on the Bluffs Yard Cleanout track, but now that they're patched (and already had the drives and gears removed), they'll start showing up in op session paperwork for inclusion in the interchange cut for the UP for delivery to their new owners.  They'll later mysteriously return to the IAIS to repeat the cycle.

More photos and details are at https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/39167.

Prototype shot of IAIS 401, 483, 413, and 431 all lined up and ready to depart the railroad they'd faithfully served for 21 years, May 26, 2005.

IAIS 401 and 413 on the layout.  These are Intermountain GP10s with the drives and gearing removed so they can roll freely for their interchange move to the UP.  Weathering was done with Pan Pastels and oils, with road name and reporting mark patches done with Future floor finish and Microscale decals.  Since the prototypes were wiped clean in the areas to be patched, I left the Future area shiny as well.

Old meets new.  IAIS GP10 402 and its replacement, GP38-2 717.

WOW!

Lots of great stuff to start the week, everybody is strutting their stuff.

@ MG (ncgoogs) - what brand/color did you use to paint your concrete details (barriers, pipe, etc)?
