It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were several late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

Hey Tom,

Nice scene!  Your wood chip cars intrigue me - are they a commercially available product?  Or maybe something you kitbashed?  Looks sort of like the railroad stuck a gondola body on top of a hopper car.  Really cool looking!

Thank you for the scene comment. The car was kitbashed by Matt Smith and sent to me by him, I now owe him a car from my road in exchange. I believe you nailed what he did. I mentioned on FB on a Woodchip Wednesday how I liked the car he showed and the next thing I knew we were exchanging. My own road cars are going to be repaints from Walthers.  It's a great hobby.

Tom

Tom,

Thanks for the explanation.  I might look around for an old gondola or two to plop on top of a hopper.  Neat idea!

Empty roads, no one around.

Proper for this particular time in history.

Pulling empties from Metro Concrete

I noticed an assembly error in this scene (After I took the photo ). Bragging rights to the person who finds it.

Assembly error?

Where is the horn? Seems to be missing. But regardless, this is a great scene. I really like the old rusty hopper car and ground cover. The switcher, regardless of any assembly error, also looks real. Nice job all around.

Adding to the roster

The Highland Railroad has taken advantage of Norfolk Southern’s PSR fire sale and added two more SD40-2s to its roster. After catching them up on some deferred maintenance and some paint work they will be released into service.
Here they are being placed on the storage/rip track until they can be moved into the shops.

The back pole looks odd.

Another week

I hoped to do a couple Helicon stacked images this week but after taking my pictures discovered it was so windy the trees ( real and scale) moved so much they looked terrible.   Oh well next week I'll try it again.

For those unfamiliar with the QA&P, they were owned by the Frisco. But went to the BN when the absorbed the Frisco in 1980.  My unit is pure fantasy, but captures what they might have looked like today.

  Stay safe everyone, Steve

Experiment

I tried to tint the windows on my new QA&P loco like modern diesels have.  Here is the attempt at least.

wind in the trees

and I thought I was the only one! When I shoot stacks indoors on the layout I have to remember to turn off any fans in heaters, air con etc. or the 3 lines between utility poles turn into a blurry mess!

Nope!

Not just you Rick! Lol

Mine looked like bad 3D or a bad attempt at an action shot. It was super windy here so I had it coming.  We just had not seen the sun in a long time.

Coupler

The coupler on the diesel switcher appears to be upside down to me.

What is QA&P?  Here are a couple SD70MACs I on which I tinted the windows. I used Tamiya Smoke on the inside of the window when I had them apart for light installs.

Not a Weed Weasel, but..

I wouldn't call it an assembly error, but the piece of hair or some such thing that is trying to pass for a "snake in the grass" in the right bottom foreground...?

Really like your gravel drive and how it blends with the ground cover.

I use the smoke tint for the sides. The front windshields have that rainbow/water and oil look, I used the Tamiya orange, blue and green clear for this attempt.
