Modeling general discussion
What's been running on your railroad?
It seems we've had some extra time to work on and play with trains. What's running on your railroad?
Here's what ran on mine this weekend, starting with an SD40-2 sandwich on GP39Es. The GP39Es are GP30s rebuilt by BN in the early 1990s. The models are Proto.

This Stay at Home is Working Fine - Learned Something New about my Camera
After a getting a used Canon 50D two years ago, I just discovered there is a neat preset available. When I use it for layout pics, I set it for an aperture of 22 for maximum depth of field, ISO 1000 to shorten exposure time, and a custom white balance to correct color. Invariably, when I go outside or take other kinds of pictures, I forget to reset the camera for more general purposes. So I usually mess them up, then when I go back to layout pics, I forget one or more settings.

Weekly Photo Fun - Mar 22-28, 2020
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em. There was a late-comer in last week's post. Check it out, then come back here afterward.

I am wondering what you painters do when painting a steam engine.......
.......and how you painters out there handle painting the smoke box silver. Do you paint the whole thing black first then mask the boiler, running boards and in my case the air pump and then spray the silver? What about the handrails and stanchions, head light and stack? Do you hand paint the silver?
Are Rapido and ScaleTrains disrupting the industry?
Looking at some the recent releases and videos from Rapido and ScaleTrains I got to thinking about their business mode more so than their products. Looking at them, I see them both as disrupters of the industry.
Stuck At Home Modeling
Since Joe has closed the pandemic topic, lets start showing what we are doing while stuck at home.
Lots of photos, please.
I'll post my contribution with photos and information later today or tomorrow after I set up some photos of what I'm working on right now.
Let's be positive and take advantage the opportunity to use our "home hobby shop" full of stuff waiting on us to use it during this time.

Therapy-Unloading Your Mistakes
Well, yeah I'm depressed being locked up and watching my 401K sink. But found something to work on. Does anyone have that shelf or shelves of sh__ they have bought over the last ten years for railroads that never got built? You know, better buy it now argument. I sure did. I started unloading two weeks ago and was surprised at what went and some of the stuff that didn't. Anyway, sold about 10 locomotives at probably 40% of cost. Did I lose money, sure. But I have a fresh pile of cash at PayPal and some of my guilt is gone from pa
Fast Tracks with rotating targets
I like the idea of moving targets on my turnouts. I tried this before, but without too much success. So, this is a story of my latest efforts. I would also like to see what others have done to accomplish the same, so please share your results.

Northern Pacific Modeler interested in contacting other N.P. Modelers
Hello, I am a Northern Pacific guy and interested in making contact with other Northern Pacific guys. I model the N.P. in 1953, so am firmly into the Transition Era on the N.P. I am also a member of the NMRA and the Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association (NPRHA) I am new at this website and do not know if there is a way to send Personal Messages to each other. I guess I will figure this out, as I go along.
Interested in hearing from you!!
