Modeling general discussion

Hard drive with model CAD drawings died. Nuts!

So I backed up many thousands of family photos and hundreds of model train CAD drawings  to an external hard drive. Safe, right?  Of course, several years later the drive failed to connect to the computer (does not matter what operating system, it just failed)

I send it out to a reliable local computer repair.  They tried, then opened up the plastic case (not the HD enclosure), and could not do more.  They very wisely closed it up to prevent more damage.

Where to find this ratcheting handbrake in HO Scale?

Does anyone know if this handbrake is available?  I have a Details West HB-132 handbrake but the handle, chain/weight are on the wrong side.  The handle is also too long.  Would like to know if i could just get the right part before I try to make something out of the Detail West piece.  Thanks.

Jersey Central and Reading Company Diesel Decals

Folks, is anyone aware of who produces CNJ diesel decals and Reading cab units? Microscale has CNJ diesel decals but their sets lack the “Jersey Central Lines”  as spelled out on cab unit B units. As regards Reading cab units I can’t locate anything available.

Freight and passenger cars are fairly well supplied from several sources and that’s no problem.

Thank you for any advice.

Produce terminal operations

Always been interested in the shipping of produce especially when it comes to scenes such as this with rows upon rows of ice reefers.  So much so that I've been collecting cars here and there with hopes of implementing a produce terminal on my layout. Not as large as this, but a few tracks in hopes to add some operations, interest and most importantly help with my "reefer" madness.

Muntins vs mullions

While window and door people usually use the term mullion

MEK - hard to find

I've been using MEK as a liquid cement for a few years and the quart can I've been using has finally evaporated and I need more.  I've been to Lowe's, Home Depot and Walmart in Maryland and Pennsylvania.  None of the stores in MD had MEK at all.  All they had in Pennsylvania was MEK Substitute.

I've looked online at Ace Hardware, True Value Hardware and Sherwin-Williams Paint.  Either they don't have it or only have it in gallon cans - enough for 3 lifetimes.

Upper fascia?

As the bench work progresses I found myself thinking too much.  When I stand at normal operating distance this is what I see:
