Attaching Subroad bed to risers
Hi Folks:
Looking for suggestions for connecting the sub road bed to my risers on my open grid benchwork. I initially tried all purpose screws (dry wall screws) -- this proved to be less than optimal, as they left lumps in the roadbed where the cork went over the screw heads -- they didnt want to counter sink right, so what is the "approved" way of doing this -- Ive got access to a crown moulding nailer (air powered) and I'm considering using that, good idea, bad idea, no idea? what do you do and what do you suggest?
$40 million a mile.
i just watched a video about how the university of Pennsylvania is going to spend $40 million a mile for a fancy mag trolley. they say about 10 miles of track, to just get students around a school campus.
why not use normal rails, and spend one tenth of the TAX dollars, as this boon dongle is to be funded by tax moneys, not privet corp moneys. and if it ever works would not be ready for 30-50+ years. can you say quadruple cost over runs?
HObbyline Ho trains of the 1950's
This thread is about HObbyline Ho trains and sets from between 1953 to 1957, the years HObbyline was in the retail business. My collection of these trains, which are only Cataloged trains, is just about completed. I have no idea why it opens on page 2 and not the newest post. I can't change it so i live with it. The text and Photo's are displayed very nicely here. This is a good place for sharing information.
If you like this line of trains or see something you think wrong, please tell me.

Small/Micro Track Plans
Without getting into the pros and cons of Facebook. There is a group I follow closely called Micro/Small Model RR Layouts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/728920213839816/
One of the frequent contributors does up track plans on a regular basis and has some great ideas for small spaces. He's produced two free PDF books of his designs and they are available on the group. Excellent designs with 3D renderings so you get a good look at what they'll look like built.
N scale ops video on the UPRR Geneva Sub Season 2019 Episode 16. Autorack train AMIGB
A new operations video on the Union Pacific Railroad Geneva Subdivision is premiering tonight at 7:00 pm EST. Check it out at 7:00 pm and chat with other viewers as the video plays. I hope to be there as well so viewers can ask questions during the video. The video is on autorack operations.

Scale centric
Hello,
I do not post here very much. Just a question, are forums, ezines, you tube videos scale centric? After reading various comments on other forums and such, it seems that is you are not a certain scale( HO) you are not a "modeler".
Well I have news for you..N scale is legitimate. There are various N scale modelers that will blow the other scales away.
Just so sick and tired of junk talking. " it's too small" well get better glasses..lol
According to certain people..we should see the bigger picture..as in N scale does not matter.
Inexpensive automobiles?
I just acquired 4 Accurail open autoracks at a price I couldn't resist. Two are bi-level and 2 are tri-level. I'd like to load them, but don't want to spend a lot of money; I just want some inexpensive cargo that won't be an eyesore on the tracks. Since the build date is late 69, that means model year 1970 or later. If this isn't practical, then I can always run them empty.
Intermodal terminal images
I am looking for a panoramic photo of an intermodal terminal, either shore or inland based, as a photo backdrop for my new layout. As shown in the attached drawing, the length of the terminal is roughly 13-14 feet. The grid is 1"= 1'. If someone has a better idea for a backdrop scene that will fit these dimensions, I'm all ears.

Creating a workable trainroom space
I'm realising when working in the train room there is a lot of mess sawdust, wiring bits, plastic shavings, etc. So to get rid of this I pull out the vacuum cleaner, the problem is that it cleans the visible mess and then leaves an invisible filtered dust in the air which over a couple hours falls down on the layout structures trees and track. The metal part of the track doesn't matter because we can easily clean that part but the rest we can't. So the fine dust lands and with the moisture in the air it cakes a very fine layer on the scenery.
