Under mount lighting folks, another question..........

For those with under mount lighting I am guessing that that you painted the surface white to bounce the light onto the layout.  The question is flat paint for an even bounce, a satin finish for a little more bounce

San Luis and Rio Grande Track Plan for Critique

Hi Folks:

Attached is my new track plan for the San Luis and Rio Grande.  This is a very much freelanced railroad based on the SLRG in Southeast Colorado.  I'd really appreciate it if you folks could look it over and let me know what you think, and where it can be improved.  Its very much designed as an operations railroad, but does include provisions for loop running for when I feel like railfanning

Thanks

Code 80 / 83 N scale rail

Hi Guys:

Im looking at going to code 80 flex for my N scale San Luis and Rio Grande.  Biggest reasons 1 Durability, 2 Cost, 3 Availability (My LHS has it, NO ONE in this area carries code 55).

The only fly in the ointment is that I'm having a tough time finding a supply of code 80 rail for hand laying turnouts.  Fast tracks carries Micro Engineering code 83, will that be a problem to use that?

Other thoughts and comments?

Thanks

TIM

Optivisor and adding an LED Work Light

One of my go to tools as I am getting older is an Optivisor. I have tried other magnifiers and glasses but find my favorite is still my old Optivisor. I also find I need more light for doing fine detail work and have tried many different work lights as well but they often get in the way, so one day while in a Home Depot I ran across a small LED light with a clip. I purchased one and figured out a way to mount it to the Optivisor without making any holes. A simple Binder Clip from the Office Supply store made a perfect clamp.

Power failure in the layout room

So I was in the layout room working away and it went dark -  instantly - I mean dark, like can't see your hand in front of your face.  The layout is in a room without any windows and only one man door, in the back of the of a garage with no windows and only the 2 car doors and one man door. It turned out a sub contractor down the street hit a line somehow.

The times they are a changin'

I had to drop out of the hobby for almost a year. Too many things in life piling up. I think I'm back on track (oh yeah, that's a pun) and starting to get into things. One is catching up with MRH and this forum. WOW things change. Can anyone say Decoder Buddy?!?!?! A game changer! Well I'm back to TMTV to check out all the new goodies.

The wonderful thing is this hobby has always waited for me to come back to it. Like a constant companion I can always turn to. Well, I best get reading. I have almost a years worth of 3 publications to catch up on!
