EMD 48" Radiator Fan Drawings/Pictures

Reminder: The following discusses 1/29
..

I'm in the process of super detailing a USA Trains GP30. Well, not very fast as I've now been working on and off for over 5 years. Now that I'm back trying to push this off the work bench, I'm trying to find more prototype information.

Shot in the dark. I need some detail photos or drawings of EMD of 48" fans, particularly the flared fans so I can replace the factory crap ones.

Worse case, I can use Cannon & Co fans, but would rather start with drawings or decent photos to create a CAD model for 3D printing.

1/87 HO scale vehicles

Scenery on the layout is almost done, now I am building "main street".  Between kitbashing and kits I am almost done, I have everything I need except vehicles!  I've been into model railroading for 30 years plus, I am now into as much realism as I can get.  I'm looking for vehicles that look as good as the high quality locos and rolling stock on the market now.  Matchbox and Hotwheels no longer cut it!   Any suggestions?  Not breaking the bank helps, but I realize you get what you pay for....

UPDATED: Team track infrastructure choices

Hi all,

I am considering adding a team track to my layout, having some empty space between the mainline and the aisle on a specific module (9" x 3' approximately).

Idea for subroadbed

Much of the lower level of my NNE Scenic V3 will make use of benchwork sections from V2.  However, one change I want to make is to remove the 2" rigid foam insulation that was glued to the 3/4" plywood of the sections, reducing the sections to 4.25" thickness (3.5" plywood frames plus 3/4" surface) instead of the 6.25" they had with the foam.

In addition to reducing the thickness, I decided I don't want to use 2" foam anymore for a layout. But two issues do arise that got me thinking about creative solutions:

Question about inpiration

I’m curious about which articles, blogs, forum posts inspire us most.

Solvent for cleaning rails and wheels

Hi All:

Some time back, I learned that you can use solvents to clean the rails and wheels of locos to improve electrical connections.  Initially, I used isopropal alchohol to clean things and it improved dramatically.  In forum discussions someone told isopropol alchohol is not good to use -- but that I should use a different solvent.  So I realize I may be setting off a firestorm, but I would really like to know what I should be using to clean and protect my rails

Thanks

TIM

GD Anabel car ferry in N scale

This is my first ship project for my port, made a long time ago; this ferry is in N scale.

Unfortunately, I didnt found any other pictures; the ship and my layout are in a container and on the way to come in Canada around the end of september.

This is a copy of the car ferry Anabel of the GD lines; I scratch this ship more than 35 years ago around 1983 - 85 from pictures of the book of Linn Westcott about the GD and some others find in MR and RMC published 40 years ago for sure.

how thin can you go?

yes i know wires have little insulation. but in doing a under the loco electrical pickup assembly.

a strip of “brass-other”. and something between that and the frame. how thin can one go while using dcc. and never get any shorts through the plastic.

as in a strip of  plasticstruct? ( very pricy buying this stuff).  or even just part of a glad hefty sandwich bag?  maybe part of a product plastic packaging? (  i am cheap so great price point there).
