Anyone have experience with Train Cat Model Sales ?

They have some interesting brass walkways that might be really good for an engine service facility.

I am sorry to hear about the big changes in his life. I am curious if anyone knows how old the proprietor is or if he plans to be back in the business at some point?

Thanks.

MTH smoke unit question

This is sort of a dumb little question, I'm hoping for a quick 'no worries' and done, but we'll see. Doesn't hurt to ask simple questions around here, usually.

I 'collected' a MTH C&O H-8 Allegheny locomotive that comes with a smoke unit. Since I have no layout, it went straight to the closet. Someday I hope to have something to run it on....

Your experience, and tips with resin models

I am about to really change gears and direction in my modeling. One reason is the amount of resin rolling stock that will support what I am going to focus my modeling around.

Before I jump in the deep end I wanted to get some forum members feedback on experience with resin cars.

Tips, ups and downs etc.

Model Railroading in Southern Nevada?

So over a year ago I had to completely dismantle my model railroad as I no longer had any space for it. In fact, I currently don’t have any space in my apartment for any sort of layout of any size. Long story short, My roommates take up a majority of the apartment leaving me with no space to build anything.

Model Storage & Display

Hi all! I suppose many of us have a second hobby or other things aside from modelling which occupy our free time.  Mine is woodworking and building furniture.  I've ended up dedicating more time to this recently as I have a fully outfitted wood shop at my disposal, though I do enjoy working on detailing and weathering locomotives and rolling stock when I have the chance, as well as a few static diorama scenes approximately 12"x24".

Ability to print white appears to be back for modeller

I see in collaboration with hp, micro mark have released a while “ink” decal printer. It’s not cheap but for those that need while and light coloured decals this really fills a gap missing since the end of alps printers.

will be interesting to see the real world results and how the price point is accepted.

Steel Mill/EAF Modelers

I’m kind of curious: I feel like myself and a handful of other people are the only ones that model Electric Arc Furnace steel making as a stand-alone steel mill operation. As far as geographical location goes, I live in an area where I can model BOP/BOF or Electric. Is there anyone else on here that models EAF exclusively? Is there anyone on here that models any of the ancillary industries associated with steel making but not steel making exclusively? Thanks for your input.

Track grades

What is an acceptable grade when designing a layout. I have a rise of 1/2" per every 100" of track. Using 2 gp- 40's I can pull 15 cars well. I have weighed my cars to nmra standard and they run well. Are my cars too heavy or is my grade too high. Could use some advice. Thanks, Chuck
