Where to find HO scale 5 gallon plastic buckets?

Does anyone know a source for these buckets in HO scale?  They are so common it's hard to believe no one makes them.   I've found plenty of old school wooden and metal buckets, but nothing like this.  A shapeways search came up with nothing in 1/87.

It's not easy to leave the hobby

In February I believed I was done with model railroading. Done for good. I stopped working on the layout, I quit all forums I used to be active in, I didn't want anything to do with model railroading at all. I started packing up all the rolling stock (I always keep the original boxes) and entered everything in my inventory database. Then I took the hammer... and couldn't take the layout down. It looked terribly empty without trains but still I kind of enjoyed the way it was sitting there.

Incline/Decline 'foam risers', Create Custom Grade

I know of the Woodland Scenics foam risers, but I have never actual had occasion to use them.
https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/INCLDECLSET

When I looked them up I found they were only available in set grades of 2, 3, or 4 % grades. For some reason I had thought from their appearance that they could be stretched out something like an accordion to obtain a grade %  in between those set grades offered,....but apparently not so.

Is Oregon Rail Supply still in business?

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me if Oregon Rail Supply is still in business? Site hasn't been updated in a long time. I did call and the message stated it was indeed the company and I emailed as well. If anyone has some definitive information, I would like to know.

Thank you all to those who reply!

Athearn Genesis 2.0????

I was looking through the ads in MRH magazine and saw one for Athearn Genesis 2.0.  Am I behind on things, or is this a teaser for a new level of detail?  The ad says it exceeds brass detail.

Is something new out in "Genesis 2.0", or is something coming?  Anybody know?

I could easily be missing the obvious and be the only one not clued in.

Kadee couplers: springs versus whiskers

I'm approaching the point where I need another bulk pack of Kadee couplers.

Traditionally, I get the ones with the stamped brass centering spring (because that's what I've been accustomed to since I adopted Kadee as my standard decades ago).  But there's been a move to "whisker" type couplers for more and more of their product.

So what are your thoughts on the performance of Kadee #5 centering spring couplers versus Kadee #148 whisker couplers?

Researching a second hand gondola. The MNNR G-100-21

My best friend models the Minnesota Commercial railway. Creating unique rolling stock for friends is fun and gets me out of the 100% ore car roster of my layout. One of the industry’s on his Hennipen Ave Branch is a business that receives steel coils by rail. I was looking on the web and came across a MNNR steel coil car listed on Railroad Picture Archives. The coil car actually turned out to be a coveted gondola. Here is the photo from their site in its MNNR red livery.

Operations Video
