i have no tape player for this any longer it has been gone for some time.

as far as i know nothing wrong with the tape. it is in the factory hard cover case.  but the first one that says they want it. i will get a usps cost for shipping and we can do this deal.

LED Lighting How To from Instructables

This came in my weekly Instructables email.  Haven’t read through the whole article, but I like his cheap approach.

Dcc concepts powerbase

I saw this product listed by dcc concepts called powerbase which uses plating under the track and magnets which attach to the locos. The track feeders create a magnetic field in the plates and giving traction to help to the loco's for better traction up a grade. That is my understanding anyway. Is anyone familiar with this product or something similar.
Thanks, Chuck

Steel Viaduct followed by Timber portal?

Even though I'm a freelancer and my railroad is a complete work of fiction there are certain things I try to keep era consistent or just "looking right". My little logging and mining line is thought be pretty prosperous so it does have some things you might not see on a smaller line like a 90ft. concrete pit turntable and a tall steel viaduct. They are must haves for me and I don't have a real problem rationalizing them but I still find myself questioning the arrangement above. Right after said steel viaduct, the track plunges into a tunnel.

saw searching

I want to make a jig out of wood similar to the fast tracks frog helpers, but with an angle they don't sell, and with the rail held upside down instead of right-side up.

The rail I am using is ME code 83, which has a rail-head width of .029".

So I need to make straight cuts in wood with a very exact kerf of .03" or slightly more. The depth of the slot needs to be at least .08", so the foot of the rail rests on top of the jig, but if it's a little deeper it shouldn't matter.

Another way to make a good backdrop

I open this discussion just because many of us see cracks which appears on their backdrop after a few time.

I just read again on a thread the coming back of repared craks in backdrop.

Most of our backdrop are made of Masonite or MDF or plain wood; unfortunately they are made of numerous pieces which mean there is a join between each pieces.

Order of construction of decks

In my NNEScenic V3 design thread, I have started discussing a revised design that would allow me to get started much sooner on the railroad.  But that faster start would only be if I build the upper deck of my layout before the lower deck.

My question is, what are the thoughts on the order of building multi deck railroads?  Advantages I see of building the upper deck first are:

Well, this is not how we wanted to get in to the papers

Our club is getting the old Heave ho.....but at least the Sac Bee thought we were newsworthy.(Note, I am not in the article.)
