Amtrak 737's first run around the S&NE
I was given this little SW1 for Christmas by a friend in CT (I am in the UK). There was a big mess up and it took two months for it to finally arrive. I have now installed a TCS decoder and here is its first run around my little layout.

CY&PRR First Run!
This evening, 2-28-17, I ran a first end-to-end run from Riverdale to Chicago on my re-building Chicago Yellowstone and Pacific. I cleaned off enough building junk and made up a train and ran for the first time in more than a year since the remodeling started. Still a lot of rough places to work on. Here is a photo journey of this event:
At Riverdale, EMD re-built Baldwin #41 makes up train for waiting RS-1 #160.
What is the architectural feature called?
Hi,
Could somebody identify what you'd call this notched pattern? Does anybody make styrene strips with this already in? I'm not sure what I should be Googling to find it.

LokSound Select vs. V4.0
I've been exploring LokSound decoders as I hear such good things about them. One thing I can't quite wrap my head around is the different versions. There is LokSound Select, Direct, Full Throttle and V4.0. In particular there is a Select Micro and a V4.0 Micro. What's the differences?
3D printers and Craft cutters
I now own a 3d printer and a craft cutter. Ive been looking around the web and found a few sites that had stuff for model railroading, and maybe I just haven't found it yet, but what would be nice is a place where we all could share info, tips, tricks and files. Ive printed a few other folks files and made a few myself. I think MRH is the place to post that kind of stuff, but Im not too sure about how or where on the site to do that?
Looking for Sources for Animation Projects
I'm in the final design stage of version 4.0 of the Fungus and Mungus Railroad. It's set in 1916 in the Colorado mountains.
I'm looking to animate a logging site, a lumber mill, the switch yard, etc.
Can anyone recommend a projects book or website of any type with some animation suggestions or projects?
I purchased the one that Kalmbach publishes, but the articles are as old as 1996. It didn't mention LEDs or microcontrollers.
Sound Levels
Have you noticed that sound decoders drive people nuts over time? I have noticed this at my club where those things really add up on the decibels. A while back when I started adding sound to my locomotives at home, I knew I didn't want that much sound.
It seems time and time again there are how to articles online that reference this. The most mentioned cure... the mute button. It seems many forget that the volume can be adjusted to acceptable levels.

No-Rail layout
A few photo's of a small No-Rail layout I`m building.
A frame made of 1/2" birch plywood and 2" pink foam.
Getting a rough idea as to what goes where.
Cut the first layer of foam by using a template that I made out of masking paper.

Help With Intermountain F Unit
I purchased a Intermountain F unit with a LokSound Select decoder. It runs and sounds great. It's a PRR model of the freight class single stripe prototype. It has a large hole in the front pilot for the coupler. The model comes with some miscellaneous small parts for the front pilot but I think they are for the doors on the pilot, which would cover the coupler on a passenger unit.
