ESU's LokProgrammer on Linux (and Mac OS X) - Virtual machine solution
Decided to post my progress on using ESU's Lokprogrammer on my Linux box, without resorting to dual booting (we're a family of 4 who switch accounts and don't log out them, so it's not really an option), or using a second computer/laptop running Windows. I had a friend coming over yesterday, Marlus, another model railroader in the Montreal area, who was kind enough to bring his Lokprogrammer to do some tests and see if we could get it working. And we had good success!
WMRY Tidewater Division ca.1945-1955 Layout design
Folks here is Version 1 of my Baltimore yard terminus for the WMRY 1944 HO scale. There will be 6 tracks on the docks, a car float operation, plus yard switching. Traffic will originate from the west (Hagerstown and west) and arrive at Baltimore. Eastbound trains will have 2 options when entering Baltimore, stay on main and use hidden loop under Baltimore Harbor for continuous running, or take the switch and enter the yard.

SP Lordsburg Sub - as of 170226
So, I've been laying (digital) paper-to-pencil for awhile now and think I have a workable, double-deck track plan. I'll post snap-shots of the various deck plans subsequent to this initializing post so as to keep this section short/brief. However, some background...
It's planned to be the SP 1982-ish from Tucson, AZ to Lordsburg, NM. When SP was largely single-tracked in this area and still had working semaphore signals. I'm designing it for operations.

Progress update on BEDT
Layout update.
Added a few new photos of the layout. I have added some buildings to my version of Kent Ave. Still have to add some detail items, etc.

Caboose (Hobbies) grand re-opening
Pleased to report back on the grand reopening of Caboose Hobbies, now known as simply Caboose.
For any of you who are familiar with the old location, the new location DEFINITELY has solved the parking issue! The building also feels much more well laid out and better lit than the old location. Plus, two easy to find bathrooms compared to just the one in the old location.

Benchwork Span
Engineering class was many years ago. I want to have open grid benchwork made of 1x4 with a 1/2 inch plywood top. What is the maximum span that it will not sag when supported at the ends only. I am assuming 4 feet would be OK as I see many modules built this way that measure 2 feet by 4 feet and have legs at each end. I would like to make a module that is 1 foot by 6 feet and have it supported only at each end. Should I go to 1x6 material?
Any structural engineers out there?

The Current Structure Build on CNW
I have started another scratch build project for the CNW Peninsula Div. It is the F.H. Kearney & Co. feed mill located in Ironwood, MI. I found the plans in the August, 2009 issue of Model Railroader mag. The plans were for a N scale structure and since I model in HO they needed to be enlarged so as to get a HO scaled drawing. Office Depot was able to do this for a very reasonable cost. Follow along for the build.

Revising the Morris Stockyard/Feed Lot & a 3D Printer
One of the key industries for my layout was the ATSF stockyard/feed lot located at Morris. It was designed to service at least 18 each 40 foot stock cars at a time and their associated livestock. The purpose of the stock feed lot was to rest/water/feed the livestock while also cleaning & servicing the stock car trains traveling from the west and traveling to Chicago. The original track alignment is shown below.
