Napanee Viaduct Landscaping Starts

Finally I have gotten a start on the centerpiece of the layout -- the Napanee viaduct and river valley/waterfalls. Been interesting, originally I was going to use commercial piers and so forth, bought a few and did a temporary setup. After starring at it for months and months decided I really didn't like it. Problem was that comparing pictures of the prototype with mine made it obvious that at the least the stonework was way out of scale.

MTM: Michael Paul Smith | Common Ground

I recognize that I am nobody. My art is created to suit me, my hobby, life. In fact one of the most, ridiculous things I ever heard was, you need to take a break from the Hobby. A hobby is often the only legal self-medicating procedure this world has. And I partake with fervor, so does my new friend.

Well I ask Michael Paul Smith to have a chat about what drives his hobby. And what do you know, we found Common Ground.

You can view more of Michaels work here at http://www.visitelginpark.com/

How would a loco be selected for a train.

Let me explain the problem.

I have 3 different types of road loco available for a train - lets say (1960-1980 maybe - and excuse me if I get this wrong being of British extraction :-)

an RS-3 HP = 1,600 - Tractive Effort 61,775
a GP9 HP = 1,750 - Tractive Effort 64,750
a GP30 HP 2,250 Tractive Effort 63375

What would be the basis for selecting one or other of these. Would it be purely on HP or tractive effort?

Blair Atholl towards Drumochter - Scotland

Hi Guys, having enjoyed seeing what you get up to on your side of the pond, I thought some of you might like to see a glimpse of what happens in Scotland.

Blair Atholl towards Drumochter is a 4mm to the foot UK 00 gauge model of the Perthshire village of Blair Atholl and the Highland Main line as it climbs towards Drumochter Summit which is the highest point on the UK rail network, 1484' above sea level.

One-to-one scale in Winter Garden, FL

I live about 15 minutes away from the quaint downtown area of Winter Garden, Florida.  There are many cool things about the town, but what I really like is that there are TWO railroad stations open to the public (one of them is a museum) and TWO cabooses!

This Family Lines (L&N!) sits behind the museum.

And this Chessie sits in front of the welcome center.
